Oh yeah, the expected defeat against Gladbach, like it is tradition.

It was a bit unfortunate as we were pressing for the equalizer in the last 20 minutes and I think a draw would have been a fair result. Before the 2-2 there was a clear foul against Kimmich, but then again the penalty that lead to the 0-1 was also very generous (although probably correct when going by the rules).

Tasmania Berlin: The curious German club keen to remain the Bundesliga's worst

Tomorrow is the big day, Schalke plays Hoffenheim and if they do not win they will equal Tasmania's record of 31 winless games in a row.

Unfortunately the article above does not go into detail about how Tasmania ended up in the Bundesliga so I am quoting from Wikipedia here:

It also mentions the "owner" Almir Numic, who is really just the president. Tasmania has no owner just like pretty much all other German clubs.

I’ve watched Schalke play a few times since football resumed and I can comfortably say I expect the winless run to go on for a while. I think even Sheffield United would beat them honestly.

They need to make some big moves this month to have a chance of staying up.

We've been shite since we took the lead. Wake up and smell the coffee, Everton.

Well, we certainly don't deserve to be going through. Hopefully someone buys Tosun on the back of today.

Thankfully we got a very professional job done in extra-time.

Congrats to Chorley for knocking out Derby, too.

Well done to Chorley. I know Derby have had covid issues but it's huge for them. If we beat Newcastle tonight, a game against them would be cool.

Wednesday only managed to get 4 on the bench today. It looks like players have been isolating since Monday so hopefully they’ll be back for the next game.

I have to say a big well done to minnows Sheffield United, who pulled off the biggest upset of the round by beating league one Bristol Rovers. The magic of the cup.

On the other hand, Tierney is awesome.

Willian is the worst player I have seen play for Arsenal in the last five years. Nothing he does works, he misses chances, fails dribbles, doesn't track back, and generally contributes nothing. I don't want him to be bad, he has a long term contract and we need to get something for him if he doesn't stay the full three years. But he just continually fucks it up.

Shout out to the players who off our bench for turning this game around. Emile Smith-Rowe. Lacazette and Saka will take the headlines but man, Xhaka was fantastic, and he has a great partnership with Mari behind him. The two of them are great with Mari being truly brilliant at playing from the back and it frees Xhaka up in midfield. Partey and Xhaka with ESR in front could really work...

Mari himself is giving Arteta a headache cause since Gabriel has been out, he has been fantastic at the LCB position alongside Holding who has excelled this year after being hours from going out on loan to Newcastle. Now we have three CB’s who are all performing really well, plus Luiz who has been good too, which is a nice problem.

I have been saying this here for over a year, but Smith-Rowe is a total baller. Thank god the ref overturned that red, because it was obviously a total guess at a red card. Appalling decision that was thankfully over turned. He has a goal or assist every 65 minutes for us and looks so dynamic compared to Willian who ambles about doing nothing.

Lacazette has been brilliant for us too, he is so much better when we have quick and skilful players around him.

Auba getting a goal is great too, and more proof that Tierney is the best left back in England on current form. We should have also had a penalty when Auba was tripped over blatantly in the box.

weird how many positives can come from an extra time win over Newcastle lol.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Really was a bad red. No idea what the ref saw to justify that.

I feel that the ref went on the scream as there's no way he saw it clear.

Mari impressed me too today, could see him and Gabriel being good together.
