I mean if you want any progressive representation on any committees that Pelosi can put people on then you should not be surprised people voted for her.

Boy, I can’t wait to watch Trump wiggle his way out of this one yet again.

 

I think beyond how AOC, Bush, et al voted, the fact that Pelosi is still Speaker fuckin sucks and doesn’t bode well for the future of the Democratic Party, much less the Left and, frankly, the future in general.

 

If we want any positive consolidation Pelosi said that she would not seek to be speaker in 2022. But, it may be too late because I doubt we have the house after the midterms

 

I’m sure Pelosi will hand-select her successor and it’ll probably be some younger ghoul like Jeffries who will also slide us off the table for two decades.

 

of course but was there a challenger at all? Anyone better that could have won? Feels like the recent challengers have all be worse options.

I didn't realize that there was any reason to believe that she wouldn't be speaker. Seems to me that she's about as secure in her position ad a party leader as anyone (even McConnell, as we've seen recently) could be

 

No, there wasn’t a challenger that I’m aware of. Much less a better option. Which is a failure in and of itself, really.

 

THere was a bit of drama becuase the House Dem majority is slim and covid sicknesses and etc so they basically needed all hands on deck since all the Repubs were gonna vote for McCarthy

And if Pelosi didn't win, it would have been an even more centrist mod Dem (if you can imagine such a thing -- look at the candidates with some sort of backing). "The Squad" are smart.
