    65 Princeton is my recommendation.
The 68 has a bassman tonestack and not the traditional blackface circuit. Maybe that’s your sound but I definitely prefer the 65.

Not sure if you’re looking at DRRIs but I would get the 68 over the 65. You get the black face circuit with the bright cap already removed for you plus a bassman tonestack in the custom channel. Pretty much two amps in one. I own one and love it.

By the time (if ever) I’m getting into spending on the high end, handwired amp market, I’ll likely be looking into getting something like a Benson or Tone King.

the handwired fender stuff is as good, if not better, than any of the boutique brands

says someone who has a morgan and not a fender. someone buy my morgan please. it's only 1300.

  6. i'm thinking about switching out the stock bridge pickup from my new squier jazzmaster (got it for xmas knowing that i'd be upgrading shit on it) with an invader neck pickup. worth it?

i never understood what makes the boutiques competitive with the bonafide models that fender or vox offer

usually it's some extra functionality. my morgan has power scaling, being able to take it from 23 watts to 0.25 watts. fender is never going to add that to one of their amps because they don't have to. but it's super useful for me to have in any sort of scenario, being able to have the same tone regardless of the wattage and without an attenuator, so I can use it at home, in a studio, live, whatever. also fender and vox usually use the same suppliers for parts and speakers, etc. boutiques have more range in selection. while fender does their reissues, they aren't actually using vintage parts like someone like victoria uses. there are a lot of variables.

At that price point they don’t really. No one does fender better than fender imo.

yeah that would be dope if fender added active attenuators. vox does on some of their top of the line stuff.

I think the handwired Fenders being a line of models and not one off $4000 special editions is a recent development, right? I was super into amps and stuff in like 2012/13 and I don't remember them existing, but most of the boutiques already did. I think the boutique builders filled a space in the market that Fender has closed a bit.

For me if I'm ever going to spend big $$ on an amp again it will be vintage Fender which seems to still have many models more affordable than anything new.

I got my FM3 in the mail and it sounds so good. Only had a little bit to try it out so far, but it’s more fun than I’ve had playing guitar in a while.

Oh cool! I had a hell of a time trying to decide between Fractal/Helix/Kemper before I went for the FM3. Excited to hear what you think.

The drolo Stamme[n] is one of the coolest pedals I've played around with. Each mode is fascinating and interesting. It sounds massive at times, it's glorious.

Man, after spending several weeks with the Count to 5 I don't think it's for me. It's so simple on the surface w/ the controls, but I find it very finicky.

yeah I dont like pedals where the parameters are a maze for no reason. give me a pitch shifter a delay and a looper and Ill do the count to 5 sounds and more.

Yeah, I sort of enjoy playing around and discovering sounds but please for the love of God let it make a usable sound without much trouble. The Count to 5 sounds a bag of birds being shaken until you line it up exactly right.

At least that's how I felt, sold it and moved on haha.
