  1. I remember reading somewhere that Mark was accidentally CC’d on some emails from the label courting Tom to do a solo thing and that also drove a division between them. Maybe I’m misremembering but I feel like that was maybe in the b182.com interview?

Yeah I think Tom even talks about that in the first AVA documentary. He said he wrote a song for Talib Kweli and that lead the label to push him to start a solo career, and Mark wasn't happy about it.

Talk about a different time and place. Labels barely support rock bands now, let alone trying to get solo albums.

  4. Haha I remember DMing Talib on MySpace about that and he responded! He confirmed it but said the song never saw the light of day. I think I saw some fans saying that became Do It For Me Now? I haven’t seen any confirmation about that though.

I vaguely remember all of this. I think that whole situation added to the fire whenever Tom was claiming that he wanted more time to be with his family. Since Mark and Travis knew he was cooking up other musical projects behind the scenes, it just appeared as though he was lying whenever he claimed that to be the reason for wanting time off from blink. Not surprising that he bounced back and released Whisper so quickly after that...

  6. If it was truly a Tom solo project, I don't think Mark would have cared as much. But then you bring in Travis and put out songs that basically sound like a darker version of Blink and Mark is on the sidelines like...

Also, same producer in Jerry Finn I believe.

  8. I put every Blink song in a generator that pumped out my "official" personal ranking of my fav Blink songs. Here's my top 25, apparently. I'd say it's probably pretty accurate, although the majority of those songs could be shuffled and it would still feel pretty correct. Some of the match-ups were br00tal!

Unfortunately, I don't have a link to share that would let you all do this without starting from scratch, so if you're feeling wild, here's what to do:

    1. Go here: List of Songs Recorded by Blink-182
    2. Go here: biassorter
    3. Type in or Copy/Paste each song from the Wiki article, and push Enter (I left Flyswatter songs off)
    4. When you've got all the songs in there, click Start

Travis said they have another Box Car Racer song in the chamber. I wonder if it's the maybe untitled "Song About Sex" they played at their live shows (at 19;55)

  10. That would be my guess. Curious to see if it ever sees the light of day.

I remember loving it when I saw them play it. Tom made mention of a second album and played a Barry Manilow cover. He seemed pretty excited and then it turned that they hated touring as BCR and weren't making a second album.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I wish I could have seen BCR live. I started going to shows in 2003, so I missed them by one year.

The show I saw in Cleveland was interesting. They were pretty energetic (Travis, of course, was playing way too fast), but they were clearly speeding through their set because their record label added the show at the last minute to end their tour (which they didn't want to be on).

Me and a friend waited to get autographs after from Tom and Travis, but they said they needed to get something to eat and they'd be right back (They never came back). David I think felt bad because it was the dead of winter, so he came out and hung out with everyone for a long time.

I saw them on their Chicago date. I had fun but remember thinking to myself for the first time, “Wow, I don’t remember Tom sucking so bad at singing”.

I wish I could say how Boxcar was when I saw them but it was the loudest show I was ever at. I mean I enjoyed it but RIP my ears

I remember S.T.U.N. opened and in my young mind, I thought they were terrible. But it's likely they just weren't my taste.

    Are You Watching Closely?

The Used and H20 were in Austin with them and the Used blew H20 out of the water and that BCR pit was like sardines in a can man... Shit was wild. Oh to be a sophomore again

Btw, how is nobody mentioning THIS:

"Is that track from the archives or newly recorded?"

    Travis: "I can’t say. [Laughs]"

I would love if it was from the archives with Jerry Finns production rather than Travis's. I'm not a big fan of his sound.

  21. I saw BCR at their SLC date. I really don't remember much about it other than The Used opened, which I thought was insaaaane since they were our "hometown heroes" at that time.

Newly recorded with new Tom writing would be a nonstarter to me lol. I'd only care if it was straight from recording the album

Yup it would basically be Letters To God Part 2 but with Travis drumming. Hard pass for me too.

It's definitely that song they scrapped from the original sessions, Amanda or something it was called I think
