I’m the rare person who likes the last one better than Birdie, but the new record might end up being my favorite

  2. This is really good! A Modern Lay rules

I like this one more than the last one but One Down has to be my favorite song by them

Loved Birdie but the last one didn’t quite click for me.

Think it still has the problem of the two before of having 3-4 tracks I’ll skip most always, but the highs are even higher than they were on those records. Really like this.

This is what I wanted after Birdie. Absolutely love Are You There.

Right now either A Modern Lay or the closer, and I also really enjoy Thinking of You and Are You There.

It’s all good though, it’s probably the strongest SB,D album start to finish imo

Just popping in to say I saw the thread title and assumed they had to be from the general area because there is a Slaughter Beach in Delaware and sure enough they're a Philly area band lol

Yeah, it's the former bassist and guitarist/singer from Modern Baseball!

I was never into Modern Baseball at all, but like SBD a lot! Is the other singer from that band up to anything?

Nah, they went on hiatus due to Bren's mental health issues. Seems they got quite serious and he isn't involved in music these days.

Just a heads up that Brendan uses they/them pronouns now, per Jake from this podcast:

probably worth a shot. SBD stands uniquely against modern baseball IMO. very few musical comparisons. Even his lyrics / song writing on this project is very distinct comparatively

I keep hearing praise / comparisons to bands I love (weakerthans especially) so maybe I'll give it a shot

I think Fred Thomas is a great point of comparison for this album

  25. I also hate MB but SBD is great and I think is something you’d probably like too. Birdie is pretty similar to the new Trace Mountains record imo
