Despite that goal Dortmund lost again. Union is now only one point behind them. What a wild season this has been so far.

 

I haven’t watched them too much but I’d imagine their backline is a problem. Going from Hakimi to Meunier is a big drop off, and they don’t have a true LB. Add in that Hummels is aging and you have a lot of holes there.

 

Sancho has been awful too. They don’t have anyone to sub in for Haaland either, except Moukoko. Hindsight is 20/20 and all but they probably should have taken the money we offered for Sancho and reinvested it.

 

The backline is a bit of a problem but also the ball progression from the backline has been lackluster, to say the least. Lots of giveaways in our own half. So I would tend to agree but I think it's a bit of a stretch to say Dortmund doesn't have a true left-back. Raphael Guerreiro is pretty solid for Dortmund most of the time and I think has mostly been the first-choice LB for Portugal since their 2016 Euro campaign.

 

2-0 ahead and Palace have been the better team. Great goal from Mane.

In hindsight, Hodgson definitely would've reverted to defensive type. Palace cannot defend so stretched.

It's a great strike from Salah but bad attackers will also sometimes score those given that much space. Palace aren't even defending. Embarrassing.

 

Meanwhile Spurs played Palace and the keeper made ridiculous saves to prevent us from 3 points lol

 

As someone who this week swapped Mane for Salah and captained him, that range was a real spectrum of emotion.

 

That wasn't even our best performance of the season. The second half was the equivalent of playing against cones.

Amazing how up and down Southampton have been over the last 10 years or so. Relegation, promotion, the Poch years, the managerial merry go round after that where relegation looked likely, and now this. They're quality again. So fun to watch.

 

Had genuinely forgotten that before Hussenhuttl took over Southampton's manager was Mark Hughes, fresh off a disastrous run at Stoke.

 

He got the job, kept them up, then the next season took them 3 steps back, from memory. How he got the job in the first place, I'll never know.

 

I know his name is not easy but you could have at least tried

God, going from Amazon coverage to Sky covering is painful. Martin Tyler (Sky guy?) is horrendous. Just an endless list of randomly inserted facts, that are described so boringly they have no chance to even be mildly interesting.

 

I hate Bezos of course, but their coverage is a class above everything else.
