Oh and Hayden is absolutely a terrible, terrible actor IMO but honestly the memes have revived his Star Wars career and lets be honest, he's just gotta walk around in the Darth Vader costume...that's it lol

Maybe his James Earl Jones voice is a voice box and he turns it off from time to time. Hopefully he goes to Tattooine and keeps talking about how much he hates sand.

My assumption is that hayden will be in the suit and also likely be in flashback scenes/episodes as anakin. The “when i left you i was but a learner” line established in ANH sort of leaves them limited on what interactions they can have 10 years after the events of RotS.

Honestly I just need the memes at this point from the Obi Wan show. Give me a "hello there". Mention the high ground. Somebody somewhere hates sand. Still not brave enough for politics. Etc.

Fuck man I hate that all this Star Wars shit is gonna make me get Disney Plus lol. I don't care about Marvel at all anymore but I want it now just for this

  10. I don't think he's a great actor, by any means, but I do think he's good enough to recognize criticism and adapt with that kind of hindsight. He's also playing a new character. Anakin is gone and Vader lives. I'm really curious as to what that means for his role. Where does James Earl Jones fall into all of this?

Having better writing/directing can’t hurt either lol

Yeah, it’ll be interesting for sure. I wonder if we’ll get some live action clone wars flashbacks. That would be pretty sweet.

  13. No kidding. So much of Hayden's performance can be pinned on the terrible dialogue given to him.

Lol right? I don't think he's a top tier actor or anything, but what does anyone expect him to do with "Love won’t save you, Padme. Only my new powers can do that."

I honestly find most of this news just super unexciting. Like yeah, bring on an Ahsokah series but does it have to interconnect Marvel style with 2 other shows?

Obi and Vader rematch is so not the direction I was hoping that show would go. Hopefully it at least gives Hayden the chance to redeem himself.

Also I have absolutely no issue with Patty Jenkins making a SW movie, but the hiring of her doesn’t really redeem the lack of female directors in my eyes. Here’s what I mean: Jenkins is I think one of 5 solo female directors to be given a budget of 100M+ and it was by far the biggest hit of all those. So it just seems like Lucasfilm is saying “Yeah, we’ll give movies to female directors but only if they succeed at the highest possible level first.” Whereas they have no problem getting male directors coming off indie movies.

The only thing I’m full out excited for is The Acolyte, sign me the fuck up for that.

I was thinking at one point today at work, & I think the one Star Wars character I’m always gonna be happy to see more of is Darth Vader.

He’s just such a perfect sci-fi pulp villain. So perfectly steeped in Jack Kirby (particularly Doctor Doom & Darkseid) & samurai influence. So intrinsically both badass & campy. And, based on how they preserved his original kinda cheap look in “gritty” Rogue One, it seems like he’s always going to be delightfully anchored in that 70s aesthetic. No matter how the rest of Star Wars is favored by modern blockbusters, even when JEJ is gone... If a live action Darth Vader shows up, I’ll be instantly taken back to Star Wars, Empire, & Return.

Dunno how much “present day” presence Vader will have in the Obi-Wan show. (If we care about consistency in Star Wars, should probably be as close to none as possible; I’ve kinda given up on that for this franchise at this point, though, lol.) But, in that and/or other Star Wars projects, I do hope to see more of Vader, even if I’m otherwise tired of fan service & interconnectedness.

I somewhat think there’ll be some kind of hallucination scene or dream sequence where Obi-Wan is seeing an Anakin that didn’t turn.

I'm fully expecting them to have an actual duel now. My irresponsible speculation is that those reported rewrites were to make it so that Vader and Obi-wan fight.

Or they borrow the force connection style fight from TROS, which I did find interesting.

Reaaaaaallly hope that Vader and Obi don't ever cross paths in this. The wording of Hayden returning as Darth Vader instead of Anakin is....concerning. Unless they do something like scenes of Vader on a Star Destroyer giving orders or something but then there's no need for Hayden.

Personally I'm hoping for more of like Clone Wars era flashbacks or maybe a dagobah style hallucination rematch if they really feel the need for shoehorn in a fight between them.

There is line from ROTJ that can justify a meeting between Obiwan and Vader. “Obiwan once thought as you did” or something like that. Vader tells this to Luke when Luke turns himself in and says he feels the conflict in him and to turn back. We have never seen such a moment.
