TIME Person of the Year should only be given to a single person, IMO. Giving it to movements or collectives cheapens it, even if a particular movement or collective is more influential in a given year.

Don't care about time but agree. How can you then give it to a single person with so many important movements about?

 

Does anyone actually care who the TIME Person of the Year is?

 

Very much so. How I view 2020 hinges on this important decisions (as it does every year). There's been some really great years that just tanked at the end due to Time's decision.

 

It should honestly be someone like Jacinda Ardern. The way she handled things for New Zealand was great. More people like that pls.

 

Seriously nobody should care

 

I don’t know if I “care” but I think it’s a cool tradition and I usually enjoy reading that issue.

 

So I would usually go to my Uncle's house for Thanksgiving, obviously we didn't go this year. But just found out that his daughter tested positive the day after Thanksgiving. I don't know how many people ended up going, and as of now, I don't know of anyone else who tested positive. But that just shows you that when you go to a gathering, you just never know. Better safe than sorry.

 

My girlfriend's grandma's dementia has steadily gotten worse and worse and she's been wandering out of the house and whatnot. My girlfriend's mom keeps insisting we go visit her grandparents because of this as if they aren't 80+ years old and particularly vulnerable to covid, and her mom just doesn't fucking grasp it. We've moved back to my home town in July and I've seen my parents once, through a window. Her mom asks things like "doesn't family matter to you?" as if we're punishing the family by exposing them to both of us who work directly with the public. It's infuriating and makes us feel awful at the same time.
