As they are every year. Always weird to me how that happens, but I’ve kind of resigned myself to it.

  5. Stoked that Dogleg made it on the P4K list and that Phoebe and Waxahatchee are that high, but these days I enjoy browsing lists from users on this site more than most publications' and I usually find more records I missed and end up enjoying that way too.

So happy Dogleg and DEHD are on Pitchfork's list. Still bummed that some great records I enjoyed are getting snubbed on a lot of the lists (Retirement Party, The Beths, Ratboys, Samia, Anjimile, Sinai Vessel, Bright Eyes, Hamilton Leithauser, Courtney Marie Andrews, Katie Malco, Cartalk, NNAMDI, etc.) but that just goes back to a lot of these lists being quite similar.

Bright Eyes not being on most of these lists is most surprising to me. That album got pretty good reviews all over and was a solid comeback album, surprised it's not getting the recognition from publications.

Hum feels like a huge snub to me on the lists I've seen so far. Empty Country as well, but I'm not surprised given that p4k couldn't even be bothered to write about the Cymbals breakup.

I feel like a lot of these publications "herd" their lists. They decide what's going to be on others to make sure it's also on theirs and then throw in a couple things that speak to their niche and maybe add or snub one or two to spark conversation/clicks.

Only heard 4 off that country list. That Whitters album did NOT do it for me though

  23. yea I know. but look you rightfully took someone to task in this thread for saying they couldn't believe people listened to "shit" like "WAP." while this isn't as bad because there's no erasure-of-women-of-color undertones here I still don't get why, in 2020 on this website, we can't just let other people like what they like and leave them the fucking hell alone. you think country music is categorically shit. congrats! what does that add?

  24. idk guess I'm taking this too seriously but shit made me mad, not trying to derail the thread tho
