This had me re-watch his Vine compilation where he goes from praising Golden Corral, pimps and their cars to just filming different objects and screaming at them. What a legend.

From what I've read/seen others speculate, Earwolf is putting all of their eggs into the "Celeb pod" basket and not really focusing on the shows that people care about, so a lot of hosts are getting fed up and leaving the network. It's all going to lead to them going bankrupt, imo

 

I listen to HH sporadically but that’s wild. Good for them though.

Also, yeah, a lot of good points on reddit (yuck!). The rise of Patreon allowing fans to directly support their favorite shows coupled with the fact that now anyone can record a good sounding podcast from anywhere with any guests means that you can cut out the Earwolf middle man.

Dan Lippert was on doughboys recently and said it took 2 years for any of Big Grande to get money out of Earwolf. Lapkus has been very critical of them recently aswell.

 

I stopped listening to pro version because Stitcher didn’t seem worth it for only one weekly show, will pay a little extra on the TFO patreon to get it back

Really hoping Off Book and HH have free archives of old episodes available, never paid for Stitcher and there are a lot of classics I want to listen to

 

I remember expressing concerns that all of the celebs getting into the podcast game was not good. Was told that people will listen to what they want and there’s no need to worry. There certainly is now.

I just can’t see some of these more niche podcasts getting a ton of support when everything is splintered off into its own Patreon and Earwolf is like Conan, Obama and every NBC Must See TV cast member recapping their old shows. I guess there’s still hope with Headgum and Forever Dog.

 

I recently learned Bill Gates and Rashida Jones host a podcast together

 

Finally, what took them so long.

 

I'm positive there will be always be podcast studios opening up that would happily scoop some of the mid to low tier shows. There's still All Things Comedy, recently Misfit Toys has Doug Loves Movies, NNF, Todd Glass Show, a ton more. I have to imagine the financial barrier to entry is pretty low, if a host wants to keep their show going they will. I'm not worried

Is Scott still running Earwolf in anyway? Or is he just purely hosting CBB at this point?

 

Its probably better to have a Patreon type set up and just control everything yourself as opposed to having a bunch of middle men. Definitely for the established shows that have a loyal following.

Scott is still the Chief Creative Officer for Earwolf and Midroll, but I don't think he has the same stake in the company that he did when him and Jeff Ulrich founded it. I could be wrong.

 

Wonder if they’ll still have ads on the main feed and if they’ll be the same advertisers. Maybe the Harry’s saga will finally come to an end.
