I also think public schools (which should be free) should cut a lot of costs to accommodate the new lack of tuition by doing things like cutting sports.

We would almost certainly have to enact more stringent qualifications for acceptance to public college for sure. A lot of people wouldn’t like that, and it would probably not be great for racial inequalities, but you’d need to do it to prevent overcrowded colleges and a lot of degrees being earned that would just absolutely flood the job market.

As for private colleges...I would think the competition of free public school would make them have to bring their prices down a bit. Not the elites of the elite but some of the other ones.

Yeah I'm more of this mindset, and plus, I assume public colleges/universities can just put a cap at how many students they're willing to admit; so in choosing who they admit will simply come down to the credentials or demographics of the students that are applying

Yeah I didn't think free school meant "Literally anyone can come here". I figured there would be class sizes, etc.

I don't know if it is as easy as just saying competition would lower the costs down a bit. In many cases right now, private colleges will end up costing around the same as public colleges after financial aid packages are accounted for. So when you talk about public colleges being provided all the money from the government that they need to be able to make tuition free, and the private school gets nothing, how much can you really expect them to be able to lower their costs before having the quality decrease and making cuts to salaries and having to layoff staff? That's how I see it but maybe I am missing something here.

    I rmemebe
The description: ""Ever since the pandemic started, we've heard the same refrain: We need to get back to normal. But what does 'normal' even mean after such a history-changing event? Bill and Rashida discuss how COVID-19 will forever change our workplaces, our schools, and even our social lives. They also get real with (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) director Dr. Anthony Fauci about what we can expect in the months ahead."

As much as I like Rashida Jones as an actor and personality, I can't even imagine what two people who come from massive wealth have to say about any of this. I can't imagine they have a remote idea what any of these areas are like for people in the lower and middle class.
