My heart hurts for how much it misunderstands us

 

That is one of the most nauseating articles I've read...unreal.

 

So I believe a friend I've recently made playing video games over the past two months may be a MTF female, obviously zero problem there. But it seems as a result she is less open to talking to me over more personal matters outside of the hobbies we share. (I don't believe I'm entitled to said conversations obviously, but we both seem to have a genuinely great time playing and talking to each other), it just seems it'd be something that resolves itself with that information out there, so I'm guessing I'm asking how would i broach the subject while being as understanding and accepting as possible.

I enjoy their companionship quite a bit and want to deepen that bond if possible. Though I'm fully aware it could be a time deal and their comfort with me, that's cool as well.

 

Reddit's community is 90% shit; the other 10% is golden; just don't touch anything remotely political because it's a minefield.

I have my wrestling and videogame based subs and stay as far as possible from /r/all.

The longer you spend on the trans subreddits, the more you'll grow tired of them as well...this coming from someone who has visited them for the past ~5 years, and doesn't really anymore. They've got plenty of problems as well.

 

My therapist had me take a break from them when I first started seeing her. Kept overwhelming me at times. I subbed back to r/ftm recently, but not asktransgender etc

Yeah, a few of the comments are people saying "y'all should calm down, she's a gay icon" or whatever. It's really the only reason I bothered posting it in here, honestly.

 

She's done this before, hasn't she? Kinda real shitty.

 

I know Cher, who also has a huge LGBT following had trouble accepting Chaz's transition and calling him the correct pronouns

Honestly I think /ftm is the only one worth visiting anymore and I don't even really relate to anything there.

 

I think that speaks to the relative invisibility of trans men, to be honest. Also. I'm so glad that stupid apnet existed so I met you and Gina and all of the other positive forces in my life. I don't want to wait another two weeks for my appointment. I'm ready nowww (waaambulance ;)

 

Also the Bette Midler thing makes me so damn sad. Her movie First Wives Club with Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn was one of my favorite movies ever. It still is. When you're 13 and you can't figure out why all the scenes with Diane Keaton's movie daughter make sense, heh. It's fantastic, if you haven't seen it. And now she reduces our lives to a joke.

So they basically want federal funding... Without the provisions that accompany it through Title IX. Got it.

 

Exactly.

"Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity."

Yet "because Congress did not provide clear notice that funds subject to Title IX were linked to an 'all comers' restroom" they're saying it's unconstitutional. I dunno, seems pretty clearly to be an issue of discrimination based on sex, thus completely in the federal government's purview to regulate in institutions that receive federal funds.

Whiny babies gonna whine, I guess. My heart goes out to the students in those 13 states who will be impacted by this.

 

I hate my state 90% of the time.
