There’s also the classic *people not liking the idea of something but loving the benefits* thing.

It’s like how public opinion on the ACA shifted for the better when it went from “we’re passing this” to “we wanna repeal this” due to some of the positive impacts (& the ACA isn’t even really good, lol).

This would be excellent news if it holds up.

From what I remember reading about SARS, people that survived still showed an immune response years later I think, so the theory was they were protected for years as well. Considering how close this virus is related to SARS, hopefully you have the same idea.

(The flip side is we've let this virus become probably endemic which means it's going to mutate a lot more than SARS got a chance to....which could end up eluding our immune systems in the long run the way the Flu does)

I'm confused, is this only referring to immunity from the potential vaccine? Because we've already shown that antibodies don't last more than a few months

I just remembered I have a friend that I've known since middle school that I think works for Pfizer out in La Jolla. I gotta message her and see if she's involved in any of this research on the virus or on the vaccine haah

yeah I think we underestimate how much of Trumps numbers were influenced simply by a lot of people actually having more money thanks to the UI extension.

A couple of my wife’s coworkers started feeling ill on Wednesday last week with covid symptoms. My wife started feeling ill on Friday. My wife went and got a covid test yesterday. Her results aren’t in, but her coworkers have come back positive. On top of that, now I’m starting to feel ill. Will be getting tested tomorrow but this doesn’t bode well

No its talking about people who had the virus. From the full article:

"In recent months, reports of waning antibody levels have created worry that immunity to the coronavirus may disappear in a few months, leaving people vulnerable to the virus again.

But many immunologists have noted that it is natural for antibody levels to drop. Besides, antibodies are just one arm of the immune system.

Although antibodies in the blood are needed to block the virus and forestall a second infection — a condition known as sterilizing immunity — immune cells that “remember” the virus more often are responsible for preventing serious illness.

“Sterilizing immunity doesn’t happen very often — that is not the norm,” said Alessandro Sette, an immunologist at the La Jolla Institute of Immunology and co-leader of the study.

More often, people become infected a second time with a particular pathogen, and the immune system recognizes the invader and quickly extinguishes the infection. The coronavirus in particular is slow to do harm, giving the immune system plenty of time to kick into gear.

“It may be terminated fast enough that not only are you not experiencing any symptoms but you are not infectious,” Dr. Sette said."
