The death rate definitely won’t be as bad as it was back in April, but the amount of people getting it nationwide will be way higher so the amount of deaths we see are going to be awful I bet

The news about the Moderna vaccine being so highly effective and also stable at normal fridge temps for 30 days is really fucking awesome.

No idea what's taking NY so long. Most of NYC is still less than 75% in and my congressional race still hasn't been called because they're taking so long to count mail-ins (it shouldn't be particularly close when those are all in)

I'm gonna assume you're in Hagerstown and raise you one Allegany County. I pretty much gave up on mask enforcing at work :/

UPMC is in maryland? I wonder if they meant Allegheny county, PA which is where UPMC is based out of

That's awesome, thanks for the head's up!! That'd definitely be ideal for a test drive.

My dad also let me know my grandfather is looking for someone to take the remainder of his lease on a 2019 Civic EX because my grandmother can no longer drive. Has all the premium features and only 5500 miles. Only downside is it's.. 1.5 years of a $300 payment, reduced to $275 when I buy it, and I'm not sure if I feel comfortable having such a high payment since federal student loans will stop being deferred. But.. with so few miles in a Civic, that thing will run forever

UPMC bought Western Maryland Health System recently so that's what they're referring to. Lots of MAGA nurses here, cool cognitive dissonance stuff!

I did a test drive of a Tesla Model X a couple weeks ago, and brought my friend with. They just let us take it ourselves without the Tesla guy coming along. It was the Model X Performance version, which has 778 HP, so it was pretty crazy they let us take it out without coming along, hahahaha.

Student debt forgiveness would be a great way to fix the problem in the moment, but would this come along with some way to prevent it all from happening again? (Regulations for colleges?)

Or would this just be some sort of temporary relief thing given the state of the economy?

I'm here for it, regardless. Just very unfamiliar with the whole thing.

Not with executive action although hopefully they can do away with the high interest rates so it could be a little better going forward, but the bigger fix is probably going to have to be legislative I’m guessing. Either way a good analogy would be during the housing crisis bailout, wouldn’t it have been better to include a requirement that all the defaulted loans would be forgiven and those struggling homeowners would keep and own their home and that equity? It wouldn’t have fixed the lending practices, which are still not fully fixed all these years later, but it would have clearly been the right and equitable thing to do and those families and communities would be way better off today.
