I was curious and looked it up. This is only the 3rd in recorded history (really the past 100 years...) in November.

 

My county’s Veterans Home has had 15 deaths since Nov 1. They currently have 93 sick patients and 90 sick employees. Employees are reaching out saying there was a gap in infection control.

I have a co-worker who is in a great mood this morning because computers have been confiscated in Germany that prove there was voter fraud. Obviously not having heard of this myself, a quick Google search revealed that this is (shocker) merely a social media scam. It took me 20 seconds to check that. Meanwhile, I overhear him excitedly telling others who are also very thrilled to hear the news. Of course, I don't bother to correct him. Why bother.

 

If things keep going at this rate, which is very bad, and 40% of Americans really say fuck it and do Thanksgiving, are we going to have like a million deaths by next year? Does anyone have any estimates? If the hospitals are full I know the death rate skyrockets, I have no idea how bad this can get.

 

Just remember that the people that are in the hospital *right now* likely contracted the virus about 2 weeks ago...so...the next month ahead is gonna be v bad

 

Getting a COVID test today because my dad may have the virus so...yay!

 

I live in a western county in Maryland. One of the few that’s made up of Republican trash. Trump visited our city four years ago, because it was one of the few spots he knew he could be worshiped. Working at a used bookstore, I have lost count how many times I have to kick people out for not wearing a mask, how many times I’ve been called a communist, and now this past weekend kicked someone out for calling me Hitler and saluting me. I know three people who have gotten covid, all in their late twenties/early thirties. This is insane. Why the fuck are we not on lockdown? At what point do I just walk out?

 

even longer than that honestly. Hospitalizations sometimes lag by as much as 3-4 weeks. And then deaths another 2 weeks after that.

the news right between Thanksgiving and Christmas is going to be grim as fuck.

Hopefully the combo of new treatment protocols, that dexa steroid, the monoclonal antibodies, etc keeps it from getting to NY in April levels of grim throughout the entire country.

 

Seems like hospitals are so full right now that unless you're inches from death, you may not even get a room.

 

I don't think I've heard much about extra hospital beds being set up in the states that are at capacity, like NYC did with the parks and ship.

yeah but those people will die under the Biden presidency. Trump will blame Biden for them. He legitimately thinks that people dying while Biden is president is a good thing.
