Ah I was there too! That was the night I got into DC, but I couldn't say anything because my friends were laughing at how bad they thought they were.

I was in 6th grade and it was at the State Fair. They were definitely a big name when I saw them.

    My second concert was NSYNC.

My dad scored tickets to Collective Soul on their Dosage tour in Atlanta when I was in the 6th grade in 1999. So that was the first concert I ever went to.

The next show I went to was Box Car Racer, The Used and H2O in the same venue in the 9th grade. Went to that with my best friends. It was a day or two before Halloween and the local radio station was hosting a costume contest at the show. So naturally, lots of naughty nurses. The Used had just put out their first album a few months prior to this. So between loving the Taste of Ink song and the first BCR song, I was pretty stoked.

I remember that BCR tour came to my city like a few days before NFG's tour, and my parents made me choose one or the other (both were on school nights, and I was like 15). I remember thinking "ah I'll just catch Box Car on their next tour." Silly, silly me.

MxPx - Summer of 2001 at the San Diego County Fair

Funny story (for me): Went with some friends and my cousin, they had posters all over the fair that said "MXPX- Christian Rock" and when my cousin saw that he decided not to watch them, walked around alone instead. Years later he loved them and I reminded him about the day at the fair and said "if i knew it was MxPx, I would had watched them"

It was a fun show, saw my first mosh pit and my 13 year old mind was blown away.

Saw that tour as well! Saw it at the Masquerade in Atlanta. I remember it being such an awesome show.

I was a bit late to live music. First concert I saw was the Motel 6 Rock Yourself to Sleep tour in 2011 at Zydeco in Birmingham, Alabama with We Came as Romans headlining alongside The Word Alive, Woe is Me, and Like Moths to Flames. I went with one of my best friends and we still go to concerts together to this day (our last concert before the world shut down was All Time Low's Nothing Personal 10 year tour in Chicago). I never stopped going to concerts after this. 88 concerts across the country later and I'm hoping to increase that number once COVID is handled.

My dad took me to see Kiss on the Psycho Circus tour in Gothenburg in 1999.

But the first show I went to without a parent was the Pier Pressure festival in the same city in 2007. My Chemical Romance, Enter Shikari, Avril Lavigne, Billy Talent, Less Than Jake, CKY etc. I was 16 and it was the first time in my teenage years that I felt that I really belonged. An amazing feeling!

I have to go back and look up some of the dates. I will occasionally forget a concert as well until a friend or my sister reminds me. As you stated remembering things can get a little fuzzy from back then [IMG]

Smashing Pumpkins @ Madison Square Garden in 1996 on the Mellon Collie tour. Peak of their powers. Garbage was supposed to open but due to their keyboardist overdosing my date was rescheduled and we got Grant Lee Buffalo instead.

Didn't Taking Back Sunday and The Used open that show? Was this the one at Hammerstein?

I'm almost positive that it was The Used and H20 opening, not TBS. But yep it was at Hammerstein!

TBS must have played the west coast dates (SIDENOTE: there are still SO many unarchived tour dates/shows from the 00's it's crazy).

Yea, I saw this tour in Atlanta, and it was H2O and The Used opening for BCR. I remember buying the H2O Go album at merch, and being excited that the Used were also playing as I'd just bought their self titled before the show. Maybe TBS was west coast like you mention.

My real first concert was *NSYNC in 2001 (I think 2001). But like MY first concert that wasn't just because I was 6 and my sister wanted to go was Chiodos at the House Cafe (which is a tiny little venue in DeKalb, IL) in May 2009, and it quite literally changed my life. My dad worked in the area so he actually was the one who told me about it and at first I was really hesitant and felt like maybe I wouldn't "belong" at a show like that (idk what I thought it was going to be lol). But he pushed me to go because he knew they were my favorite band at the time. So I got a group together, my dad took us (the trooper even sat in the back of this little cafe listening to Chiodos) and from that moment I knew going to concerts was my new favorite thing to do. I haven't found a new favorite thing since.

    wanna go for a ryyyde

never noticed this thread before. bouncing souls home for the holidays in 2008 i think. stony pony was under renovation or some shit at the time so they did the show at an arcade down the street in asbury park. it was loud af and there was a santa clause in the pit and also a guy in a wheel chair crowd surfing. pretty good first show imo.
