I woulnd't actually cut anything from In Defense. I get why some would, but the sprawl and the fact that it took me a very long time to actually become familiar with the whole thing is all part of it. Like when I saw them for the first time and they played Spay Me which I hadn't heard (at least not enough to know it), it was so fun to come home and look that one up. At this point I love it all, even if I have clear favorites that I go back to a lot more.

That being said if I had to cut it down (bolds are my true favorites):

    Skinny Mean Man
    No Soul
    That Is Why
    Surgically Removing the Tracking Device
    This is Fucking Ecstasy
    The Church Channel
    Shiksa

    Baby Girl, I'm a Blur
    R*****ed In Love
    An Insult To The Dead
    Sorry, Dudes. My Bad

    Spay Me
The Truth Is, You Should Lie With Me
    About Falling
    Spores
    Have At Thee!
    Hangover Song
    Plea

Skinny Mean Man is probably my single favorite song on the album.

Tickle Me Red was originally supposed to be on the album and it got replaced when Max wrote An Insult To The Dead. Really wish Tickle Me Red was on the track list.

  5. "Tickle Me Red" is truly the GOAT

Don't think there's enough I'd want to cut to make IDOTG any shorter than like 16 tracks so I'll take it as is, warts and all. My first SA album and I have a lot of junior high/high school memories associated with it.

Tickle Me Red is sometimes my favorite Say Anything song.

anyway, most of IDOTG is good, not all of it is essential and some of it has aged fucking terribly lyrically speaking (we know the ones), but for the most part I have always felt it was a p damn good double record all things considered. I couldn’t cut enough songs to make it a single disc that would feel meaningfully better than what we got, personally. plus, imo, the unwieldiness of it is a feature and not a bug

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

Add "Sorry, Dudes,.." and it's my tracklist du jour.

    Realistically for me it's:

    IARB/In Defense > TBC/SWYA/IR > Hebrews > Saves the Day Trilogy > OA/IDTIIS/Anarchy/Baseball > 9/STD Self-Titled

So with a lot less of these ">>>" I'm more willing to hear y'all out. And I'll give you that Saves the Day is a lot more consistent.

Edit: Ok Oliver Appropriate is probably not better than any of the trilogy albums so I moved that.

    IARB > SWYA > IR > STA > UTB > Daybreak > 9 > Saves The Day > TBC > Say Anything = Anarchy > IDOTG > Hebrews > OA > CSD > Baseball > IDTII

I will agree IARB is the best but then I would put probably every STD album except 9 after it
