  4. Finished Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer tonight. Woof. Visceral, thought-provoking, not an easy watch, but worth the ride if you can stomach it. Just incredible performances and filmmaking on a shoestring budget.

Come to Daddy was a neat little movie and Elijah Wood is just the best.

Renting Wolf of Snow Hollow, Possessor and Spontaneous tonight. Gonna try to get through them in the next few days.

Very excited for the first two, intrigued by the last one.

Joe Bob Christmas is a-go for Dec 11th on Shudder.
I just hope it's more upbeat than the Halloween one. The whole through-line of "everyone is mad at Joe Bob and no one likes it here" was just depressing.

  11. It also takes place on the cabin set, so I'm wondering if it's a continued story. Curious to see what they pick this year...maybe Better Watch Out and Christmas Evil?

I kinda wanna do a run through of Rob Zombie's movies so I decided to revisit House of 1000 Corpses last night and wow that third act really still goes batshit crazy.

Mortuary Collection was cool, but might be biased after listening to a few interviews with Ryan.

Saw overlord back when I still had moviepass, theater was empty besides me and I had a blast.

  18. The Al Adamson documentary on Shudder (Blood and Flesh) is awesome. I didn't know much about his story other than being a B-movie director who was murdered, and I can't speak much to his character, but hearing the way his films came together, seeing clips, and ultimately hearing the story of his death was fascinating. Definitely recommend it.

Loved the Wolf of Snow Hollow. Thought it was really funny and well done, Jim Cummings is excellent too. I've only seen the Thunder Road short, so I guess my next step is to watch the feature.

  25. Unfortunately, New Nightmare didn't really do it for me. Appreciated the originality, but it didn't really feel like a Nightmare film, and I know that's the point, but...twoish on-screen kills in just under two hours? Idk. The child acting and new Freddy design didn't help, although Langenkamp was great (as always). Just kind of boring compared to the worse (read: more fun) sequels.

On the flip side of the coin, Antibirth was NUTS. I went from kind of hating it to kind of loving it in 90 minutes. Very messy, both narratively and literally. I don't know if that constitutes a recommendation, but it's an experience. It's like Eraserhead directed by Harmony Korine.
