Already knew what this was, but this article covers a lot of history. Really interesting how the term started pretty recently and even more recently devolved to the point where the way Obama walks was suggested as a "dog whistle." So many phrases in politics have gone the same way and have been distorted by such blatantly incorrect usage.

  9. The incredible quest to find the African slave ships that sank in the Atlantic
Off the western tip of mainland Africa lie some of the most important vestiges of the transatlantic slave trade: the wreckage of ships that sank, carrying thousands of African men, women and children to America. But despite historians’ immense interest in that period, no one has ever tried to excavate them. Until now.

The 1965 Law That Gave the Republican Party Its Race Problem

Really interesting read on the impact of the 1965 Hart-Celler Immigration Act on the USA's current demographic makeup.

"In 1965, non-Hispanic whites comprised over 85 percent of the American population. Fifty years later, that portion is just 62 percent, and falling. This is also why, 50 years later, Donald Trump is winning 52 percent of the white vote (to Hillary Clinton’s 40 percent) on a platform uniquely unappealing to minority voters—but losing the election, according to almost every poll."

Long interview with Clinton from Ezra Klein that took place back in June that I completely missed. Some good policy talk in there if you're interested.

Also a good read on how wind energy is doing.

In the latest poll, Trump is ahead of Clinton by 2 points. This is the first time he is ahead in a national poll since the CNN poll on July 24.
