Been watching this a lot lately

 

making a primer playlist for the group text. kind of wanted to steer away from most of the obvious singles. thoughts? where can I improve this? generally want it to be under an hour.

 

Pretty great mix there - and I know it's a single but The Perfect Drug would be an excellent addition... that and/or Into the Void. Those were kinda "lesser known" singles when Trent sort of faded out of the mainstream/critical favor for a bit.

La Mer feels so essential to me, same with Right Where it Belongs. I guess I kinda feel like delicate NIN is just as vital to the identity as the more aggressive stuff, so I would say it could use some of that (for my tastes). also big fan of Echoplex and Lights in the Sky from The Slip and would prob put them on an essential NIN playlist.

"Letting You" is such a goddamn slapper. my heart rate doubles listening to that song

Mr. Self Destruct and Somewhat Damaged are such good album openers.

 

I think Trent puts a ton of thought into openers, thus why (to me) they always come through.

It just sets the table perfectly for what you’re in for.

MAAAAYBE MAYBE with the exception of All The Love. I absolute adore that song and With Teeth, and gun to my head I may choose it as my favorite given it was my first as a fan to experience from the hype to the delivery, but I’ve always thought the flow into You Know What You Are? was choppy.

Maybe even use Every Day as the opener and flow that to All The Love.

 

But then you screw up With Teeth (the song).

Fuck, maybe I’m just wrong.

The one-two punch of Love Is Not Enough and YKWYA? on Beside You In Time is AMAZING and I low-key wish the album started like that too.
