Only works if you put controls on money and lobbyists. Mainly the lobbyists, Michigan's Congress did this and it backfired. Lobbyists become the experts and end up writing all the legislation.

Even then you would also need the term limits to be pretty wide. It takes time for people who are newer to the political/legal aspect to get their legs to write effective legislation.

  3. Utah's republican governor is "cautiously optimistic" about our 2,800 covid cases that were announced today. our highest yet.

I went from Rashida Tlaib to Tim Ryan recently. A huge downgrade but could still be much worse.

  5. my new terror is that I'm gonna lose Cori as my rep in redistricting tho. I am very close to the line between MO-1 and MO-2

It could be worse. At least her husband wrote on his deathbed to abolish the senate.

Trump did not do well in red states. Of the 24 states with 90% or more of the vote returned so far and went red in 2016, here's the list of those with a higher percentage of Trump votes in 2020:

    Arkansas
    Florida
Pennsylvania (and we know how this one is going to end)

Obviously, we were dealing with third party candidates there, but most of the other 21 aren't all that close to their 2016 margins.

My rep is Diana DeGette. Honestly, I know next to nothing about her. She seems like a pretty middle of the road dem.

I went from Jayapal to Adam Smith when I moved.

Kinda hoping redistricting puts me back in Pramila's district. Smith is like... progressive enough that its probably not worth giving him a serious primary challenge but no where near the level of Jayapal.

At the bare minimum you need to take away a seat from some states and give it to another. Literally no reason for Wyoming and California to both have 2.

  22. yeah to me, if the EC goes then so does the senate, they are equally fucked up and undemocratic
