Night Mode on the Telephoto lens might be the thing I’m most excited about. I’ve never particularly used the Telephoto lens previously, but it feels MUCH more useful now.

my personal hot take is that the difference between these two batteries in day-to-day use is going to be negligible.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max lasted 1,5 days on average, which is... useless? Like half a day of battery means you have to charge nightly anyway.
Both 12s will easily last you through the day for at least 2-3 years. Obviously having more buffer in there is better in the long run but we are talking about a less than a 10% loss.

 

Battery differences between the two generations is really going to boil down to how much a person is on mobile data, and more specifically bouncing around on 5G signals. The iPhone 12 having worse battery life should also be expected considering the much higher resolution display.

 

No, the OLED uses less or comparable power to the LED screen in the previous gen. Pixel density is only an issue with backlit screens.

The batteries are simply a smidge smaller this time around, the difference in mAh lines up with the loss of actual battery life.

 

I’m willing to bet 80-90% of the battery discrepancy is 5G related.

 

5G does seem to hit my battery pretty quickly so far. I switched back to WiFi.

 

Whyyyyyy did they not make the MagSafe charger 6ft. It feels perfect in hand, but it’s just not long enough to use while sitting in bed, or on the couch. They will almost certainly release a longer version of this at some point.

 

has anyone used that icon themer shortcut to do custom icons but without launching shortcuts first? when I transition into and out of the app I see white on the bottom corners, almost like the animation isn't cropping correctly to the rounded corners of the icon.

 

I was home until 1:45 today and wife was home passed that. No UPS guy as of 5pm. Checked tracking and it said they made a delivery attempt when they absolutely did not. Said they will try again on Monday. BS they will not. Wife went down to the UPS hub facility after calling support. Driver was not back yet so they told her to come back around 8p to the after hours door to pick up. Luckily that all worked out and I'm transferring data now. I would have been livid if that didn't work out since they either a) lied about attempting delivery or b) went to the wrong house.

Hmm, i wonder if its because I’m using the Icon Themer shortcut to do this rather than Launch Centre. I also have Trafs icons, but I’m getting white borders with what should be transparent as in the PNG

 

So it’s around this time of day in lockdown that my X would hit 20% and start shooting down in battery. My 12 has 73% left with 3:30 hours screen on time (I’m using the phone a lot cause it’s new haha). Very happy with that.

 

This flashlight on the 12 Pro is worse than on my 8. Not as bright and doesn't shoot out as far. Bleh.

FYI, when you use the "setup nearby device" feature to transfer all content from old phone to new it does indeed process all downloaded music from your Apple music like you had it on your previous device. Genius. I started the setup later last night and let it do its thing overnight while it finished downloading apps and syncing apple music library. Crazy awesome feature they added since the last time I got a new phone.

I’m sorry but the clear case with the MagSafe stuff on it looks absolutely ridiculous. You can not change my mind.

 

I’m sitting at 1:26 screen time with 88% on my 12 Pro. Battery is absolutely fine compared to the older models, only with an asterisk on 5G use.

Which, hilariously I get faster LTE speeds here on AT&T than I do with their 5G.
