Hot Take: Y&H is the most quintessential pop punk album for me, even over something like EOTS (I may be a bit biased though since GC is my favor ute band and Y&H is what got me into music in 7th grade).

Excited for you to listen to the other stuff. I have seen a good amount of comments of people not listening past a certain point. Everyone should totally check the rest of their discography! I bet you find some stuff that you enjoy :)

I think if you’re putting together a Mt. Rushmore of pop punk albums and only using an artist once you can definitely make the case it belongs there. I think people forget just how popular of an album it was at the time.

Totally agree. What else would you include?

My early 2000's pop punk Mt. Rushmore would probably be:

    1. Good Charlotte- The Young and the Hopeless
    2. Blink 182- Enema of the State
    3. New Found Glory- Sticks and Stones
    4. Sum 41- All Killer No Filler or Simple Plan- No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls.

This would probably be mine too although you can debate putting NFG’s self titled over Sticks and Stones and for the 4th slot maybe FOB’s Under The Cork Tree over All Killer No Filler.

I think the Simple Plan album is a good one but would be in the next tier with Sugarcult’s Start Static, Fenix Tx and Unwritten Law.

I grew out of the pop punk genre around the time blink released their Untitled album so there’s only a small handful of “newer” pop punk bands I listen to but I still love the bands/albums I grew up listening too.

i think you don't just vote for critically acclaimed albums.
if you have a favorite Good Charlotte album, then vote it up, even if it's not necessarily the most popular.

I would think most, if not all people here are voting for their favorite record, regardless of how it did commercially.

Historically I never liked The Chronicles of Life and Death. I disliked it so much that it basically ended my fandom for the band after LOVING the first two albums. I think I'm going to give it another shot, and even if I still don't like it... I might check out their other albums for the first time now.

Some duds on there for sure, but also some of my favorite stuff from them.

The chronicles of life and death

You come in cold, you're covered in blood
They're all so happy you've arrived
The doctor cuts your cord, hands you to your mom
She sets you free into this life

I'm sorry ya'll, I revisited Chronicles today and it's truly terrible, I don't understand where you are hearing any redeeming qualities. Some of this stuff is straight up embarrassing (The Truth, I Just Wanna Live) and the rest is a shell of what the band could be, and proved they could be on TY&TH.

Anyway, I might still give a shot to their albums I haven't heard before, but a re-visit of this album reminds me once again why I gave up on the band after this album

If I had to, I would only keep Predictable, The World Is Black and Mountain

I wouldn’t say truly terrible but truly disappointing especially coming off what I consider their two best albums. I remember getting it when it came out in 2005 listening to it once and that was it for a long time. There are definitely some good songs on the album but the ones that don’t work like The Truth really drag it down. Truly terrible is Good Morning Revival.

Good Morning Revival is better than Chronicles imo. I like it more than their debut too.

I love The River, that might be my favorite GC song. Misery isn’t bad but the rest are eh to me.
