iPhone 12 doesn't have slippery curved sides like the 11. You'll also get one more bonus year of iOS updates with the 12...if you plan on having your next phone for many years.

Hmm this is is really nice but I do kinda like how both the mophie and belkin one has a stand for the phone

Fair enough. Personally, I think curved makes more sense and is more comfortable for larger phones because it fits to the curve of your hand. Having flat edges seems more uncomfortable and I've seen some reviewers online agree. The updates is a really good point though. How long do they support it? 3 years?

I can't for the life of me understand why people prefer flat edges to curved edges when it's hard enough to wrap your hand around a wide phone lol

6 and 6 Plus are still able to update to iOS 14 and the 5s was able to support iOS 12, so about 5 years. The last few years may have issues though.

Flat edges are easier to hold a grip on in my opinion. More surface for fingers to rest on and such. I’ve wanted flat edges for that reason since I got rid of my original SE a couple years back.

Okay, it's a black 12 Mini for me. I've watched more than few videos of the blue and sometimes it just looks too much like a toy.

I’m debating whether or not I need the new 20W charging brick. I currently have 5W and 12W.

Probably depends on how you charge your phone...if you charge overnight you probably don't need it. If you're one of those people that finds themselves constantly needing some juice before you run out the door than faster charging would help you.

I am an overnight charger, but $19 isn’t too bad to buy the 20W.

Maybe Apple does a good job managing the heat and there's no risk, but I personally only fast charge my Android phones if I know I'm not going to be using the phone while it charges and I just use a standard slow charger overnight. Only because faster charging leads to more heat, which leads to shorter longevity of battery life. I could be playing it overly safe, though.

Fast charging is amazing though and I still use it a lot

Held a 12 Pro at work today. Got the demo units in for it and the 12(won't be on display yet until Friday). Its def a good bit heavier than my 8. Looks like a 40 gram increase. I do not like the shiny sides of the pro. Doesn't matter as it will be in a case 99.9999% of the time. The 12 we got was the blue and I do not like that blue really at all. I like the brushed aluminum side of it though. Found out my wife will be home all day on Friday so she can sign for my delivery!

I'm really glad I'll get to see the standard 12 blue for myself in person before ordering the Mini. It photographs so different depending on the lighting. If it's anything like a royal blue in real life then I'm out. I think this is maybe the only good thing about having to wait longer lol.

As did I. Via UPS, which is a good thing as they typically come earlier that others. I'm leaving around 4PM to go camping for the weekend, so really hope they drop it off before then.

What are the plans in here for CarPlay with the 12?

Keep a lightning to USB in your car and use a lightning to USB-C or MagSafe indoors?

cable in the car, magsafe in the house

Magsafe is sweet, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like it'd be impractical for me.

The added thickness seems like it'd be pretty uncomfortable to use your phone while charging, and if I'm not going to use it while it's charging, I might as well use a wireless charger

you're right, I don't think it's going to be particularly great haha, but I am going to try it for a few weeks and see how I feel.

People said it's okay to use it while charging but also... the cable is only 3 feet so I am not sure in what position.

that said, the iPhone 12 has a pretty good battery so I don't think you'll be in the charing while using sitsh much hopefully!
