I was really hoping she would expand on where she was headed with Tokyo and this wayyyy exceeds my expectations. February can't come soon enough.

 

Tokyo/Sucker Punch make a lot of sense now knowing where she was headed with her songwriting and production.

 

Tokyo is one of her five best songs.

After doing a discog listen this morning I totally see this too, especially in the drumming. I remember being so floored by all the added instrumentation on that track, but putting it in context the drums sound a lot like stuff she did on Sprained Ankle. This track feels completely new in that sense.

 

For sure. And even though TOTL doesn't do anything with percussion, it still feels like a step in between the intimacy of SA and where Little Oblivions seems to be headed. I definitely think full band Julien was inevitable.

 

I managed to grab one of the Spotify variants after Matador's big ol webstore fiasco this morning. This is already a most anticipated record for next year and I am very excited.

 

Oh my god thank you for reminding me that these songs exist. Not sure why these fell off my radar last fall, but damn I've got chills.

 

Been trying to be generally more positive lately, but yeah, people suck.

 

Yeah a lot of replies are from stans being rude for no reason other than the VMP wasn't their fave which sucks.

 

VMP don't have the clout to carry exclusive wax for the likes of Ariana and Adele so don't know why people thought that's what this was lmao
