Really struggling with my streams today. Unsure if its my internet or what but man nothing is working without some extreme lag.

 

I'm watching it, but I don't think this concept works well with soccer, not as well as it works with the NFL.

The keeper off the line rule is kinda lame. The kick taker can run up, stutter, stop, stutter, kick and the keeper is expected to not move until the ball is hit.

Taker cannot stutter while taking the kick.

 

I see it happen a lot though and nothing is called. I guess I'm saying I see one called way more often than the other.

They rarely if ever call the encroachment and it’s been part of the rules for years. It’s just that VAR actually looks at it now. On the other hand I haven’t seen a player stutter while taking a penalty in years. Even Neymar who used to do it no longer does it because he kept getting called back.

 

TIL that @Nick and I have very different definitions of what "stutter" means when it comes to penalty kicks. I'd say... half... of all penalties I see involve stuttering.

 

You’re not allowed stutter while taking the kick. You can do whatever up to that point but once you make a movement to take the kick, you aren’t allowed stutter.

Bruno’s hop for example is completely within the rules, because he takes the kick in one movement.

 

I definitely saw Nani stutter when he took his pk vs RBNY the other night.

 

This is the one that’s not allowed now, sorry if I didn’t explain correctly.


I believe before the motion to kick the ball anything is fair game for both keeper and taker. But the actual shot needs to be one motion with the keeper on the line.

 

Fully aware we will probably lost this evening, but PSG are not good. A better team would have a field day against this defence and midfield the way they’re playing tonight. We just don’t have the quality to put them to the sword.

 

That's fair, and makes more sense. I see stutter and immediately picture someone stuttering as they approach the ball.
