For the cost of the phone you should still get the charger. Like I don’t need it but I’m not getting any savings either tho

 

How does giving people a cable they'll never use help something become the new standard?

If you really want people to move to the new standard, give them a charger as well. Then they can actually use it.

Then in a few generations once you've actually helped adopt USB C chargers as the standard, you can talk about removing them.

 

Also really should go without saying, but if Apple actually gave a shit about "establishing new standards" they wouldn't be using their own proprietary lighting ports would they? Just use USB-C to USB-C then at least people can use their own cables.

But enough about how Apple, like any other capitalist company, is driven by profits not by doing what's best for the consumer. Time to get back to the actual thread.

 

This Apple discussion really crushed my algorithm.

 

This is headphone jack 2.0. Google and Samsung are gonna do the same thing next year and no one is gonna bat an eye. I still have my same charging brick and lightning cable on my nightstand that I used for my 6. It’ll work for my 12 mini when I get it next month as well. The usb cable is in there if you wanna get the charger or if you need to plug it into your MacBook since they only have usb c ports now.

 

I don't think it's quite that bad in terms of complaints, as far as i can tell, but feel there's more legitimacy here. Like the earbuds are big who gives a fuck, but the charging brick is useful, even if all i do is wireless charging at this point, but other people might care. If Apple lowered the price a little to account, then i'd be more into shrugging about it. i just also don't feel like defending a fucking corporation over something that doesn't benefit customers in any way.

 

Well wish me luck, woke up coughing and wheezing. I'm hoping its just fluid related and I just need dialysis. Only shitty thing is...I think I may have a fever and new body aches have begun. If I have a fever when I get to dialysis, they'll send me home and set me up with a clinic that is over an hour each way to run from 5-9pm. I'm going to harass my PCP (I say that jokingly, I work with him) into getting me a damn test ASAP.

Yeah I mean I still have an old ipod mini and barely listen to music using my phone but shifting to wireless ear buds is annoying AF to me. especially since I do not use ear buds at all and still prefer headphones

I’m still in situations surprisingly often (for 2020) where I wish I could charge my phone & use an aux cord at the same time.

Side note....it's been like this for a while now, but yahoo has like, decent news now? Remember back when it was skewed rather right wing and the comments sections were, like, a complete dumpster fire? I mean ALL comment sections are now a days but, yahoo was truly ahead of its time in horrible comment sections back then.

 

I never truly understood the severity of the mental health crisis in this country until I started reading Yahoo news comments. I'm glad they shut that down.

 

Glad I had to spend $41 to buy a headphone jack + charging cable input adapter device - really great use of $41
