I like this band but something about the guy's lyrics kinda bother me. I think it was on here that someone mentioned how Pinegrove would word all their social media stuff and it's the same with this. It's also possible that I'm completely taking it the wrong way, so could anyone who is particularly into this dude's lyrics point out what I'm missing exactly?

 

I'm not sure exactly what you dislike about his lyrics tbh - I don't think he's the best lyricist ever, but I think he's decent with imagery and occasionally captures really universal feelings in his hyper specificity (Lake Erie is his best in this regard imo). see also:

I like the lyrics. Also not getting that Pinegrove comparison at all. I'd be careful looping the two bands together--even hearing that band's name gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

 

also not to stretch this out but isn't the thing with Pinegrove's social presence like how they're all cutesy and a little infantile and how unsettling it is? not seeing the connection at all

 

even more unsettling considering who Evan is and what he's done, fuck off with that twee nonsense when you shouldn't have a career anymore

 

also, since I'm listening to this a second time, I have to say that anyone who wanted more steel guitar will be pretty happy. this borders on country at times for sure

yeah, that's fair, i shouldn't have equated the two when wild pink's only crime is me finding the lyrics slightly annoying. apologies.

I really like his music but his lyrics are not great - Lake Erie in particular is a jam, but "I wonder how different some days go" is about as deep as a puddle and he somehow thinks its a refrain worth repeating
