Remember when he shut down the government after midterms in order to get his wall? Dude thought the Dems would cave, they gave money for the wall and he rejected it. In the end, he gave up and the government opened up again. That’s his MO, he talks a big game but doesn’t know how to reach the endgame.

 

I just can’t imagine why capitalism polls so low with this generation. Especially with the way we call any attempts to fix this or add a more robust social safety net “socialism”. It’s a mystery!

 

I rarely have praise for Germany, and we have problems of our own, but in this case...:

The late historian Tony Judt made a great point: social nets and social market economies were established in certain countries (west germany, UK,...) after 1945 IN ORDER TO KEEP them away from flirting with communism. When you have a good social net, people will not be enamoured with the Soviet Union.

Funny how this point seems to be forgotten these days.
