I can't begin to talk about Eddie right now. This is really painful.

I will say that I've been on AP/Chorus for 15 years and would have never expected a VH thread to have any conversation. I'm glad to see VH discussion happening.

It's been nice to read these remembrances from Rolling Stone. They have a ton of them up.

1984 is just a killer album. Absolutely massive.

 

1984 is the best album ever, except for the s/t which is also the best album ever

 

Not sure there can ever be a better driving song than “Panama”

 

The bass on that song makes me want to run through a wall it's so good.

 

no kidding. I’ve listened to it at least twice a day since the EVH news broke.

 

I’m listening to Fair Warning now and I’m comfortable saying Mean Street is their best song

 

I definitely need to explore their deeper discography. I’m very familiar with their most popular stuff but not their back catalog.

 

I like 5150 as much as VH I and 1984, possibly moreso

 

"Dreams" has a reasonable case for the best song they ever recorded. And "Why Can't This Be Love" isn't far off.

 

Doing a discography run. I was big into VH when I started playing guitar but haven’t revisited beyond VH and 1984 with older ears. Looking forward to diving through. On Women and Children First now

 

When I was kid, my dad would take me on motorcycle rides through the canyon near where I grew up in Utah...and he'd blast Van Halen while we'd ride through the mountain air! So whenever I hear them, I think of him. I surprised him with concert tickets to see them a few years back and it was a wonderful night for both of us. Eddie's passing is hitting me harder more and more each day as I think about it.

Debut single from Wolfgang, and a tribute to his dad. Being around the same age as Wolfgang, and having a dad around the same age as Eddie was when he passed, this song got me thinking about what it would be like to lose him and got me pretty emotional.

Honestly, I really like the song itself also. The thing that surprised me the most is how good Wolfgang’s singing voice is, he sounds REALLY good here.

My eyes skimmed to the ranking before reading “least to most fav” and I damn near did a spit take when I saw Van Halen III at the top

 

It didn’t age well since the last time I sat through it!
