Jonah is kind of a personal hero for me, which definitely plays into the weighting.

“Feel Alright” has really gotten me through some stuff. Actually had a really nice twitter conversation with Jonah about it recently, which was pretty lovely.

    Edit:
This is also why you’re the best dude. Immediately jumping into lists to discover stuff. Wouldn’t have shocked me if you somehow found a copy of my Dad’s album off my list and heard that too. You’re relentless. Haha

Dry the River is so good. I saw them with my ex-wife in Seattle and one of the guys kept staring at her in the bar before the show. That's my Dry the River story

Listened to Kate Pruitt’s Expectations from Craig’s list, which was an album I didn’t recognise, and interested to see it was from 2020 and already high up your all time favourites albums.

I really enjoyed this, she’s got one hell of a voice when she lets loose, but has total control over it for the quieter parts too, she’s a really powerful presence. Excellent song writer, the tracks are really well arranged and produced with a good amount of variety in the songs. Lyrics seemed really open, honest with some great lines that hooked me on a first listen.

Really enjoyed this a lot for a first listen, and will definitely be coming back to it, sounded excellent.

Quoting this because I want to do a little homework on your list, and this makes it easier to access on mobile.

In particular, I really want to give those Hazelwood/Sinatra, Ben Webster, and Link Wray albums a go in the near future.

From Street Spirit’s list, I listened to Black Origami by Jlin. I’d never heard of the artist before, but I liked the artwork.

This is definitely one that would need multiple listens for it to begin to make sense. It’s definitely not the sort of music I’m familiar with , or would have much of a frame of reference / comparison point to make to it. I guess it would be just about considered dance music meets challenging hip hop style beats (maybe?), but I know I have a bit of a blind spot for a lot of music like this, so it’s not something I know much about.

There’s a lot going on in these compositions , and it’s a pretty complex and dense listen, without particularly conventional song structures or forms.

It’s hard to really say what I made of it really , it was certainly intriguing and original sounding, and there’s clearly a lot of talent in producing this sort of thing. It was all a little overwhelming for a first listen and was a bit of a whiplash coming straight after the Katie Pruitt album for me. Certainly interesting enough to give it another try later on though.
