Jiri vs Rakic is happening according to Jiri’s manager.

1. I love the fuck out of this matchup. Sets up the next title contender after Santos/Glover

2. I hate it because I think they both have potential to be a champ and I don’t want to see someone’s hype train derail.

3. Jiri being ranked 5th shows how shallow 205 is. But this is also the most exciting the division has been since Jones went on his streak early on (Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Evans, etc)

 

Also feel like they may gift Rumble a title shot off the bat or have him starch someone like Anthony Smith and then give him one anyway.

 

Yeah, there's a weird ebb and flow sort of thing that goes on whenever you have a dominant champion in a division who eventually leaves/loses. It's exciting seeing a dominant title run, but it gives the impression/illusion of a shallow division after a while.

It happened at LHW when Jones beat all of those former champs, it happened when Aldo, Anderson, Mighty Mouse, GSP, etc. were kings. Hopefully the same thing happens here where when Jones is finally removed for a while, we'll start seeing a bunch of intriguing possibilities that we hadn't noticed before.
