Diggin these songs

 

Really like these. That first track reminded me of Chris Farren's "Permanent For Me".

 

Wow! Good catch. Now I can't unhear that & it makes it even better.

 

The new tracks remind me of Craig Finn or Stephen Steinbrink with the production. Really love them.

 

White Sea posted on IG that she was involved with this release, spotify credits don't list her though so I'm not sure what kind of involvement

Brother’s Blood is one of his best songs but it is not my favorite song, tho I don’t even know what my fav kevin song is tbh. it’s a toss-up between a few tho right now (appropriately) I’m leaning towards 11-17

 

I’m in love with the new version of “11-17” he put up on Patreon a few days ago.

But my favorite song of his, and it has been for a while now, is “I Was Alive Back Then.”

Thats a top 15 and I refuse to narrow it down further

 

Ballgame is the quintessential Kevin Devine song. Self aware, inward reflective whilst being aware of the world out there an his place in it.

As well as being lyrically fantastic, it also shows his fantastic musical skills. he makes the guitar sing. Acoustic and Electric.

I don’t think you get to anything else post Make The Clocks Move without Ballgame. The epic Brother’s Blood or the Ballgame bookend, I Was alive Back Then all seem to have roots in that one song.

I Used to be Someone has been my favorite for a long time. Just Stay, Brother's Blood, Cotton Crush, Ballgame are all up there

 

Just stay is number two probably

There are tons of great songs that are bsides and covers too, and other project stuff. Mesa, Az, Army, Walls (Tom Petty cover) whatever (Elliot Smith cover) and so many more.

 

kevin is amongst the top tier you need to see them live in the world.

 

I bailed on his show last minute back in January and its one of my biggest regrets of the year, last chance I had to see a live show before the world went insane.

 

I slept on KD until I saw him supporting Cursive on the 'BTCAC' tour - been to see him 5 or 6 more times since then and he's probably my favourite artist now
