I'm enjoying this, but that waveform must look like a brick. Has anyone else mentioned the volume?

 

where did dude come from? did the national covers blow up or something?

 

They originally had it mastered by someone else, then redone by Will Yip, so I'm wondering if he mastered from the already compressed master!

 

I think he’s been sitting on this album for a minute, National covers were just a quarantine thing that just kinda happened and ended up being good PR hahah. He was a part of this band Stay Inside that put out a pretty good hardcore record this year but I don’t think he was a part of that record specifically. So yeah, just kinda been in the DC music scene for a minute before he got his album together. The Uproxx interview a couple pages back was pretty good if you wanna check it out.

He also put out a solo EP as Bartees and the Strange Fruit in 2017 - it's not on Spotify but is on YouTube.

 

easily one of the best things to come out of this terrible miserable year. a flawless record.

It is so rare and special to get such a flawlessly executed melting pot of influences like this. It sounds like nothing and everything at the same time. Truly could not love it more

 

Just finished my first listen. This is very cool, a lot of different vibes going on. Definitely dug it.

 

Okay yeah this is super good. The praise is well deserved.

 

This sounds like I’m literally being transported to another world for 30 minutes. Getting real deep inside someone else’s headspace. I love it for that.
