This is by no means my AOTY, but man I sure am enjoying it.

 

His lack of vocal range, lower register, and cheesy lyrics works well for this kind of pop punk.

 

Woah. Listened to the deluxe for the first time. The bonus track really fuckin’ rip. Split a Pill is awesome.

 

Bonus tracks are good, I like hangover cure the best

Just saw on Travis' IG story that My Ex's Best Friend also went Gold.

 

The more I listen to this, the more I love it.

Yeah I finally got through the whole thing tonight. This may actually be my favorite release this year.

 

Yeah I feel like I have to admit I love this. I keep trying to play something else at the gym but keep putting this on.

Poppy and Taylor Swift are in my top 5. This is likely top 10? All impossible to predict for me personally before 2020 haha.

 

Drunk Face is growing on me a lot. That hook is catchy.

also, I know his vocal range is not very wide at all, but for some reason I really like it.

 

Somehow Travis makes it worse by wearing a shirt that says “Pussy builds strong bones” in the music video.

 

Punk music and hip hop have been intertwined before over the years and it's weird seeing some people all over give so much attention and praise to a (white) hip hop artist making punk music when it's really nothing new and has been done by (largely POC folks) for years. Sure, what other hip hop musicians have done may not be straight "pop punk" like this album tries to be, but still, there's been artists before that deserves attention or credit for meshing the two genres together or crossing over into pop punk/punk that I don't see getting the same attention or credit MGK is getting.

 

MGK somehow appropriating the pop punk revival is wild

Wow Drunk Face sounds awesome live, they really need to push that as the next single.

Surprised Halsey didn't show up to do Forget Me Too, they were filming the music video earlier in the day. They also played the song a step down and pitch shifted her backing track. I actually think it sounds better this way!

 

I love that he played Halsey's parts in the playback track. First time i've ever seen someone do that live instead of having someone else do it.

 

All his promo up til now has seemed not very live but this seems legit and sounds really good

 

The ending of concert for aliens is dope. Obviously this must be touched up in some way but MGK sounds good and the band sounds tight. Travis kills it.

 

Would be nice if we could have shows!!!

 

That was a fun watch.

 

Really digging the live versions of the songs. If and when MGK does a U.K. tour supporting this album we’ll be there.
