On AP, someone (I think Summerskin Jeff) posted that if you clean your body before you wash your hair, you're a pedophile. That has stuck with me for going on a decade now. Always wash your hair first!

Some Korn songs really hold up, in part because they were actually legitimately trying to push the genre forward sonically. So much nu-metal/post-grunge/rap-rock, etc. from that era were just formless murk on the production front. But some of the production on those Korn hits is still incredible. Really meticulous drum and bass sounds.

Also if we're arguing about personalities with Scott Ian all I can say is if you're doing the same in defense of SLAYER then just try to remember what they say about glass houses hahaha

honestly part of what appeals to me so much about Life is Peachy is the oddball shit, the stuff that showcased that they didn’t quite take themselves as seriously as maybe the prior couple tracks had let on.

Machine Gun Kelly’s new pop punk album isn’t that great. It’s fine for what it is, a debut pop punk album, but it’s not the best punk album of the year or an album so good it will revive the genre. Bands such as Spanish Love Songs, Teenage Halloween, and Knuckle Puck (just to name a few) have out out great pop punk/punk records this year but aren’t getting the same rave praise I’ve seen some give MGK.

I don't want this to come off like I'm being a dick but the discrepancies in levels of praise are likely because MGK is a high profile multi-platinum rapper, and Teenage Halloween is decidedly not

His voice is not a good singing voice, I said it elsewhere but he just sounds like your run of the mill garage band pop-punk wannabe singer. Musically, there's enjoyable stuff, but vocally there is a reason he's not a singer

That’s fair. I totally agree (I should have chosen a bigger album), but I feel the other two apply at least a little bit because they have more popularity. At least Knuckle Puck does. Either way, I just don’t think his album is the be all end all great album of 2020 I’ve seen some insinuate it is.

Exactly. Musically I can appreciate a decent amount of it, but the singing isn’t anything special and doesn’t sound much different than, like you said, a wannabe pop punk singer.

  18. He’s a hell of a lot better than Tim Armstrong at least, which isn’t saying much at all, but still haha.

Hard disagree, Armstrong's voice isn't for everyone but it's unique, fits the music, and frankly is a different genre. MGK doesn't have anything going for his singing voice. It's the voice of a thousand teenage wannabes

  22. Absolutely. Their 90's stuff is also well revered because this is when they moved into a metallish industrial direction, and I know Pandemonium is considered a classic. The 2010s albums brought back post punk / dancier elements into the mix too. Democracy, Killing Joke (2003) and Absolute Dissent are my favorite albums from that long period.
