I enjoy a dark love story, especially when it revolves around death.

Starry Eyes was decent. Didn't love it but I thought it was pretty well done if heavy handed.

They're Watching was kinda lame. Cool finale, though, and made me want to watch HGTV

That movie had so much hype surrounding it for whatever reason. That said, the finale 15 minutes or so was some of the most brutal, realistic shit I've seen in a movie that wasn't already filled with that type of violence.

I did have a nightmare this morning that involved the ax chop from They're Watching and the head bash from Starry Eyes.

I loved the movie. Can't recommend it enough. Everyone may not agree, but it was just a perfect storm of everything I like in a film on my favorite subject matter.

I'm curious if Joel ended up seeing it and what he thought of it.

The one I downloaded wasn't the best quality so I'm gonna grab it from a different source, still top of my list and will quote you when I do!

I just saw that The Black Coat's Daughter hasn't even been released yet and won't be til 2017?

Yea, it keeps getting pushed back. I'm not sure why. It has distributors and it was supposed to start hitting VOD on August 25th.

Now it's an undisclosed date in 2017. Really sucks.

It's been getting around since 2015. It's available to those savvy enough to get it. I'm not sure what the hold up is at all.

What would y'all call the scariest movie you've ever seen? Someone put me on the spot and I'm sort of at a loss. The Paranormal Activity movies are pretty spooky but that's not a great answer

As a kid, I was freaked out by Jaws, The Gate, It, and Child's Play. When I was in middle school, I had a hard time sleeping after seeing Scream, due in part that teenagers were capable of brutal murder. As an adult, I've had nightmares of being stalked by Jason Vorhees and Anton Chigurh. But I can't remember the last time I was genuinely horrified in the middle of watching a movie.

Now that you mentioned it, I downloaded TCM in my freshman dorm and watched it alone in the dark while my roommate was out for the weekend. Definitely had trouble sleeping after that.

My 2 weird answers would be the Dawn of the Dead remake and Lake Mungo for completely different reason. Dotd mainly for action, LM for slowly zooming in on creepy photographs. Blair Witch was also unwatchable for me as a kid.

Oh yes Blair Witch is a good answer! TCM as well. Funny Games, but that's a whole different thing

In high school, me and a few friends were at a mom & pop video store and they decided to rent "The Worst of Faces of Death" much to my objection. I still don't know the degree of authenticity but that's another film that deeply disturbed me.

I grew on the Elm St. sequels (that were edited for television and became more campy as the series progressed) but at some point never saw the original. Then one night when I was in middle school a cable channel aired it. I remember reading the TV Guide description that said "effectively scary" which I never saw printed in the magazine. I ended up turning it off when Nancy sees Tina's corpse in a body bag being dragged down the school hallway.

oh, i would also say Suspiria, but in a much more nightmarish, emotionally nauseating sort of way than the raw, exhausting terror of TCM. it's hard to describe if you've not seen it, but once you have i think it's an apt way of thinking of it.
