Man, I sold a fuzz pedal to someone recently on Reverb and they contacted me requesting a return because it was (you guessed it) "noisy". I accepted the return because I just didn't feel like fighting it at the time and I knew I could re-sell it again easily. I get a message like a day after I accept the return from the guy saying he tried it in his chain (as opposed to by itself, as he had initially) and it solved the problem by powering it off a power supply daisy chain rather than by itself. Said he had already bought the same pedal from someone else after that for less and wanted to go ahead and proceed with the return.

Thankfully every other transaction I've ever had on Reverb has been perfectly fine. That one though, ugh. Cmon man. I'll never understand the people who act surprised when a dirt pedal, especially a fuzz, is "noisy".

I've ended up bottling it and accepting the refund request. Whole thing has left a pretty bad taste and I'm particularly unimpressed with Reverb Support.

I've noticed as well that I'm expected to offer him the full refund, which doesn't at this stage appear to take into account the Reverb fees which were applied. So that's cool of them if that's the case...

Anyone have thoughts on that new Cabronita Baritone? I'm interested (and whish it came in any other color, but that's such a minimal issue for me).

Only electric I have right now is a Mexican Strat, and I also want to save up for some at home recording eq.

i've been really tempted by the squier super sonic, but i'm holding off lol. i want something with a flatter fretboard

Another long shot, but does anyone have advice on good guitar and bass wall hangers? Looking to be able to hang four or so on the wall above the desk where I work my day job. I live in an apartment so want to be a bit intentional about walls (though we've already hung paintings, etc, so it's fine). I have a bass, electric guitar, acoustics, and a tenor that I'll be switching between (with an eye on a baritone next). Only issue is that I'd need to be able to work fully on computers and monitors without running into guitars, but I'm trying to balance that with not having to climb up to bring down guitars. If a hanger is not the right idea, I'm open to that as well... just wanted some input!

String Swing is a lot of people's go-to for wall hangers. I don't use wall hangers myself so I can't really offer anything beyond that I'm afraid.

Related subject: any recommendations on boat racks? Don't want to break the bank, but the cheaper ones I've seen look like their prone to QC issues.

Have tried quite a few Seymour Duncan pickups (Humbukers only), and only one set of DiMarzio's

I know that would be a unfair comparison but I have the strong feeling that Seymour Duncan makes a bit more quality pickups than DiMarzio.

To me SD are more natural and alive and DMZ are more sterile sounding.

What you guys have to say about them or what is your experience with both of them?

i like a few SDs. depending on the kind of music you're trying to make, Dimarzio super distortions are better than anything by SD. in all honesty though, pretty much any kind of pickup configuration are made better elsewhere. it's basically like saying electroharmonix or mxr are your favorite pedal companies.

wild how much my guitar technique and just other general stuff has changed over the last few months, some pretty dramatic shifts have happened. I always used thin tortex picks and now I use thick ass jazz III’s, and I tried out stringjoy and got my own custom set, and got a wound G in it and tbh for rhythm playing at least I am probably never gonna go back. as far as technique goes I’ve started to make a concerted effort to float my right hand and not anchor it as much as possible. those are kinda the major things I can point to, there’s other stuff but p much everything else can be summed up as just general improvement from having so much extra spare time on my hands. I legit never thought I would fuck with thick picks tho, that’s pretty wild to me haha.

i use the thin orange ones but yeah jazz iii’s have always been the way to go for me. i find the extra pointiness gives me the attack i want

I never realized how much that extra pick surface area would get in the way of my playing with normal sized picks. the thickness thing is partly a tonal preference as it helps smooth out the highs a bit w my ASAT thru my Vox, and also bc I feel like it has helped me tremendously with my speed and has caused me to be more intentional with my attack and consequentially made me more dynamic oddly enough.

  15. I can’t imagine playing with thin picks now. I’ve been using 1mm picks for yeeeears. I play pretty hard so anything less than that breaks way too quickly.

anyone here have any experience with kemper/helix/fractal stuff? between the costs/availability of tubes lately and then with working from home during COVID, amps have been becoming less and less feasible for me. i have a pretty nice amp, so i was thinking of listing it on reverb, enjoying it until it sells, and then going the sometimes dreaded modeling route. it does truly seem that some of the brands now have gotten nearly as good as the real thing, while being better for home use, easier for recording, and extremely tweakable. so, yeah, anyone who has used any of them with thoughts?

watching the ken andrews and jim adkins rig rundowns turned me onto fractal, and dustin kensrue’s to helix.

I think @sophos34 told me he had been messing around with one of them and been blown away by it

I’ve never used the expensive stuff but a lot of amp modeling seems crazy impressive now. With the expensive stuff it’s all about the IR’s - but the one’s I see most people use are third party and or open source. With that being said the experience could become homogenous across modelers the way I understand it. The Kemper may be a little different animal.

I stan for the cheap Joyo clones of the Tech 21 amp sim pedals. The AC Tone and the American Sound are really spot on - I use them straight into my interface.

right. kemper isn't really 1:1 with fractal/helix because it still requires having the actual amps/purchasing peoples preset packs

but yeah. there's stuff like the hx stomp that is apparently really good. part of the desire for the helix or fractal for me is just the form factor of it. having the extra sends and the full size board is something I'm looking for.

Hey man, we all can't be like you Supporter

i’d go for the equipment, tbh. Soapbars have never done a ton for me, and I’d rather manipulate a dry recording of a strat than have a spare tele sitting around.

Do you have an interface for a PC or Mac? If you do, you could try out Bias FX 2. I've been using that a lot at home and it relegates my amp to barely ever getting turned on. Obviously, that's no good if you still intend to go out and play some time, although they do have some hardware versions of their amps too. Might be a more cost effective way to have a play with some modelling stuff before you send your amp on its way though?

I only use these and Gravity Mini Razers now. I don't know if I could actually play with the green tortex picks I used to use.
