Well I assume Plant was supposed to be Page. But I can't figure out who you were thinking with the "Moody Blues guys". They only had one guitarist, and while I think he's insanely underrated, he's definitely not someone I'd expect to be on that last, as they weren't a particularly guitar-forward band.

Favorite guitarists (probably missing a few):

    Hughie Thomasson
    James Burton
    Maury Mulheisen
    James Hetfield
    Lindsey Buckingham
Pete Townshend (purely as a rhythm player)
    Jeff Carlisi
    Neil Giraldo
    Joe Perry
    Cliff Gallip
    John Jennings
    Steve Cropper

Don't forget he also took on roles that were less flashy and equally excellent with Delaney and Bonnie and on All Things Must Pass. Versatility is key.

  11. Ok. This is fair, but its harder for me to counter with credentials like you can give to Clapton. Like the only actual album that says anything about Jerry is Live/Dead. I could list a bunch of live dates but no one cares about that. Like if Cream or D&TD toured as much as the Dead there wouldn't be so much other output that you could list like that. But, an acceptable nomination anyway

I always do the Plant Page mix up no matter how aware I am of who is who. It's like a typo thing lol.

I'm new to Moody Blues (per your rec actually a couple months ago) and I heard a couple of riffs by them that really turned my head

That's awesome! Justin Hayward is fantstic guitarist, but not a very showy one, so he gets very little hype. But those acoustic runs on "Dawning Is the Day" and the 12 string strum on "Question" and the riffing on "The Story in Your Eyes" and the Harrison-esque espressive lead playing on "New Horizons" really show how versatile he was and how much he always suited the song rather than showed off.

Pretty pumped he stood out to you

Both Dead guitarists are excellent. Just not really personal favorites, thus not listed by me. But they can sure play
