Lol please tell me Stef actually took a bong hit

  2. It's a song lol

Seeing any of their albums in full -- especially ATF, White Pony, or self-titled -- would be so sick

Yes. The set list tho said encore: bong hit then Damone. Just curious if it was literal

I think it’s just saying that bc there’s a bong hit in the middle of the gap before Damone

I'm sure I've read about them playing White Pony in full a few times in the early 2000's, can't remember more specifically than that.

Good chance they would have done some anniversary shows this year were it not for covid.

  6. They played Adrenaline in full in 2006 or 2007 as well. The story, if I recall correctly, is their amps broke or something and they had to resort to playing songs with the least effects. They were touring with Thrice and ended up using the latter's gear for that show. I remember that vividly because the show was reviewed in a music magazine I used to read at the time.

Even by my high expectations of this band, this album has blown me away. Different songs and different runs of songs stand out to me each listen.

White Pony is my favourite album ever so I'm not saying this is there but it may well be top three Deftones record, which is ridiculous given how much Around The Fur, the S/T and DE mean to me. Twenty five years after their debut and they're still releasing records this great. Stunning.

This is dumb, and I know the distinction doesn’t matter, but Deftones deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame someday. They’ve been on a major label, had big hits, a long and storied career, lots of critical acclaim, and more or less represent a genre.

Not quite feeling this album the way everyone else is so far. A few songs stand out but other than that its a blur of samesy bludgeoning riffs

Perhaps I prefer the poppier Deftones but Swerve City, Tempest, Phantom Bride, gimme some of that shit

Had the chorus of Ceremony stuck in my head the last hour. What a tune.

If I could just forget it

I can see this album being divisive like that. It definitely feels like a return to the Chi era in a lot of ways.

When everything drops out at the three minute mark of This Link Is Dead except Frank and Chino. Yes.

I’m not a drummer but Abe’s parts sound like they would be a blast to play. Error and Radiant City especially.

He’s a lot of fun to *try* to cover.

If I could just forget it

I recently started playing again and thought I’d learn ATF front to back as a good re-entry point. Made it to Lhabia and said, “Oh, right. He’s a lot better than me”.

  21. The synths at the beginning of Genesis are so good. Great way to start the album.

I can play Hexagram in full on drums which took a few weeks. I sadly am rid of my electric set now so I won’t be playing for some time.

nothing Abe plays is particularly difficult, it's getting the nuances and feel that make him so unique and impressive. and of course he has always had some of the best sounding snares of all time

Was trying to figure out what Bjork song Chino was reminding me of in the verses of Error and it might be this one?

Aye it's the feel. His ability to write the perfect, creative, distinct part and make it feel great. Digital Bath is perfectly manageable for any solid drummer on paper, but try and make it bounce like Abe does and capture all the little dynamics... that can't really be taught.
