I went to GameStop to try to get my brother a PS5 pre order and they had 7. Seven. I know they couldn’t make many because of covid but c’mon. The same GameStop had 40 Switch’s at the midnight launch.

Local one by me had 2 and there were way more than 2 people lined up out front. Its crazy.

 

Can't they just tell people: We only have two, the line is useless?

Yeah, I'd definitely think that'd be the way to go. My friend got there around 8 am (opens at 10) and said the line had about 10 people ahead of him. The employees didn't come out til 945 to tell them that they only had 2.

 

Standing outside a GameStop that opens in 8 minutes, looks like I’m about 12th in line. Wish me luck lmao

Did not get one (they had 8), but I got put on a call list where they’ll supposedly call me in order of my place in line if they get any more.

 

I’m on the website now, and says I’m “in line” tho I’m at work can’t keep looking at this. Says if I refresh I’ll be pushed back in que....

It's almost impressive how much they seem to be making these pre-orders even worse.

 

apparently what was made most available was the “ps5 starter bundle.” comes with the disc drive console, an extra controller, charging station, an extra year of PSN paid, the deluxe edition of spider man, and dragon souls for like ~800ish including tax. had three friends grab it on the site.

im still holding out for the digital console.

 

I have a pre-order for both the digital and disc version (sorry everyone) and am giving one of my friends the pre-order for whichever version I don't want to keep. I like the design of the digital version better but I think I am going to go with the disc. I plan on getting most of my games digital but if I ever want to borrow a game from someone or watch a blu-ray, I would hate to not have the option.

Only preorder I was available to snag last week was a disc drive console with an extra controller, Deluxe Spidey, and Destruction All-Stars. The plan is to sell everything that isn’t the console, because I don’t need the extra controller and I don’t want any physical games. Now the goal is to turn those three games and controller into the 3D pulse headset, media remote, a year of PS+, and a digital copy of MM.

 

As someone who waits a year or two after release to buy a new console, do these things really sell out on launch day? Why does that seem weird to me?
