really love that Ohms was the first track we got to hear off this. at first it didn’t click for me, but hearing it in context last night was everything. I think it’s the least substantial track off this but I also think it’s supposed to be... like the song that plays over the end credits as you and whoever your with talk about what you just saw. everything on the album is so intense, you need Ohms to pick you up and send you out of the theatre smiling. it was thrilling as Headless came to an end, knowing what Ohms sounded like, and knowing that the guys had just made a perfect record.

Ceremony and Pompeji are early favorites next to the singles.

I think the only tracks I don’t love are Urantia/Error, with the note that I really like Error’s last two minutes. Lyrically they miss me and the other tracks feel a lot more thought out/intriguing to return to.

I genuinely wanna know Stephen’s set up for his 9 string, like damn he got some tone outta that thing on this.

Error's last two minutes are sublime. The earlier verse/chorus part feels straight 1999 MTV nu-metal... I mean, it's catchy and enjoyable, but yeah.

I think Finger of Death could have fit perfectly on this album. I hope it sees the light of day eventually

This snippet from Eros also... it has Error vibes

not that this would be a bad thing but: i really don't think it does, except for the fact that it's v groovy

  12. The Spell Of Mathematics makes me miss Isis or wish Chino had done another album with Palms.

  13. So, This Link Is Dead is fucking epic

  14. I can't help but think of Machine Head's numetal phase during that early riff lol

  15. That section with the snaps on Mathematics makes me feel like I’m falling into the sunken place

Loved my first listen. Can’t wait to spend more time with this tonight with some Tito’s in me. As a huge stan for Sextape I loved the similarity at times in Headless.

Gore is better than all of those except WP, and this might be better than Gore.

both of these are p much verbatim things I have expressed to my friends, who are also heavily fucking with this, during our group listens haha

rn my top 3 is Headless, Error, and The Link is Dead, but honestly the entire rest of the record is pretty fucking close lol it’s hard to pick faves

Yeah this might be their best album in quite a while for me. The whole thing is so cohesive and the songs are so dynamic. I read a review saying that they seemed to put an emphasis on crafting great songs instead of cool ideas and to me that's the biggest difference between this and KNY and Gore. I am really loving the hooks on here and it has some of Chino's best vocal performances, possibly ever.

One thing that's notable is the fact that as soon as the album ended I wanted to replay it immediately. I did not feel this way with the previous two albums.

I love KNY, it honestly was my second fav album by them until probably last year but tbh the second half kinda suffers from exactly that. the songs aren’t bad but you kinda get the sense they could have been better with the input of say, a better producer! haha. Gore takes a lot of my least fav elements of KNY and DE to an extent and does that for most of the record and with muddy production that doesn’t make me want to try to listen closer for the little details that usually keep me engaged on even some of my lesser fav deftones work. idk. this one feels like they cut out absolutely all the fluff and just focused on everything having maximum impact.
