this is the album I have wanted them to make for nearly 20 years now and I just didn’t know it. it’s like a more progressive, less loose, and more “modern” S/T

yeah, after all of that, OHMS feels like a final victory lap. my skepticism for it as a closer is quelled entirely. I’m envisioning like credits rolling over this song lol. fuck yes. gonna try not to be any more hyperbolic than I have already and I will just leave this at I can imagine this being a top 3 deftones album for me in time.

this is the one I keep thinking about. that dirty riff with chino floating over it is everything I love about this band distilled into one song

can we also take a moment to commend the flow of this album? lord this thing is sequenced seamlessly

If I could just forget it

I have only listened one time but that was an immediate takeaway for me. It’s just so well put together. It’s like night and day compare to Gore.

Surprising listen. Anyone who's been waiting to really flesh out the SNW dark floating in space feeling has to be more than happy. Also think the Gore haters will be back on board, cuz the only holdover here is some of the subtle Hum type riff influence. Much darker and less Pumpkins-y than a lot of the last two records... feels like a mashup of their 2000s LPs but more unconventional in the melodic ideas.

Been on a huge WGTB kick this week, so I'm psyched to hear this album is drawing comparisons to that.

it’s not exactly the same thing, but much in the same way WGTB is built on rapidly strummed dissonant chords, the link is dead is as well

    hmmm

Have you ever heard a thrash riff utilised in such a way as on Urantia?

no but it had a similar spirit to Doomed User for me which was nice bc that was my fav Gore cut

  18. Agreed! I also thought Sergio's playing was very reminiscent of Chi on that one. Idk if I'm reaching but his bass line immediately stood out.

Every member is really playing to their strengths here.

  20. I'm on my work midbreak and losing my mind because I can't stop thinking about each song, like there are individual parts coming back to mind even though I only had one listen. Can't wait to get out and give it another one!!

And enjoy your likes everyone, it's all on me.

  21. Is it Error that has that straight up late 90's numetal riff with harmonics? I was grinning once I heard it.
