Ross Robinson's calling card is that he's an intense dude.

Did Jeremy say whether Robinson threw stuff at him while he was recording?

 

He talked about how Robinson would stand two feet away from him in the booth while he recorded his vocals. When tracking guitars he would just randomly grab them in a joking manner to mess with them. He made Jeremy explain the meaning of each line in a song to the members. And probably most messed up, he asked Jeremy where he thinks his deceased mother is. Jeremy said that he had an intense but productive conversation after that incident.

But it was cool how invested he was in the project. Basically said to Jeremy that he did not care about what he was being paid and that he just to create cool music. Overall, Jeremy had high praise for him.

 

ya'll remember burn piano island burn? I always think of that record and relationship of command when I think about ross robinson. to me he's a nu-metal producer who occasionally makes brilliant records with up and coming _____-core bands.

 

when he’s on he’s on. I need to listen to that podcast, it’s always fascinating to hear from artists he’s worked with on his process, messy and problematic as it may get (woof at that mom question)

 

Can't remember details off the top of my head but I'm sure I heard a story about him once asking a drummer to play the kick drum like he was kickstarting his dead mother's heart.

The amount of people in bands he's thrown stuff at in the studio. Glassjaw kept that noise towards the end of Pretty Lush of something hitting the vocal booth while Daryl was singing. I guess you know what you're getting if you choose him to produce your record.

 

I remember the story of him taking the bassist of ATDI, and driving with him in his sports car around really fast. Apparently it was pretty dangerous

 

As someone who only only discovered this band like a month ago, I’m getting really excited for this album.

 

there’s a lot of great shit on this podcast ep. his overall takeaway is basically “I love that man and have never met a more intensely passionate and upbeat individual in my life”

 

Gonna listen to it later.

 

I thought this came out this week but now i came here and saw its still two weeks away and dammit.

I didn't know that podcast started up again. When Jonah Bayer dropped off the face of the earth I figured the podcast was done. I'll have to catch up on the episodes.

 

They started up without Jonah at the beginning of the year. Just Benny + Brad now. Lots of good guests recently! Definitely worth catching up

Excellent post day today. A nice surprise ‘reminders’ 7” from the band as well. So cool and such a nice thing to do. Love this band.
