I forget Medicine for Melancholy exists because it was a Rivers solo song but I like that song more than most of Black. I LOVE EWBAITE, White, and Pacific Daydream though so I’m mostly in the New Weezer camp

I’ve never understood the hate for Make Believe. I loved it since the day it came out and placed it probably in my top 3 Weezer albums behind Pinkerton/Blue.

That said, I think White is no. 3 for me now. Make Believe and Green round out my Top 5.

Make Believe is arguably the bottom of the ranking. I like two songs on Raditude vs. there's one ok song on Make Believe (Perfect Situation) so on that basis alone I might have to rank Raditude higher.

  7. It falls somewhere in the middle for me, but I love it about as much as I love Pacific Daydream. It's a fun record

I agree with this. Green is my favorite Weezer album too.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

the real question is how in the fuck "Brightening Day" didn't make the cut for Green

Really my only issues with green are the paint by numbers guitar solos and the short length.

I really really enjoy Green when it's on but then I immediately forget what half the songs sound like. I fucking LOVE the first four songs though, and Knockdown Drag Out is one of the more underrated songs in their catalogue, it's sooo catchy

Meanwhile, Red is my least favorite Weezer album

This is the longest a Weezer thread has gone with talking about rankings without actually ranking albums.

    Well done, folks.

I'm stoked because to me Van Weezer seems like it's going to be the Green Album with louder guitars haha.

Make Believe was a crushing disappointment. Haunt You Every Day is great at least. Beverly Hills is also fine? Not even close to the worst thing on it.

The only thing with Make Believe for me is that two singles seem almost tacked into a somewhat serious, introspective record. Hold Me, Peace, The Damage in Your Heart, Pardon Me - those are all songs that came from Rivers working through his emotional turmoil through meditation and spirituality. Even Freak Me Out is a song about a spider he saw in his house and then considered that its life had value and he shouldn’t kill it even though he was scared of it. For a guy who writes like Rivers usually does, these are really personal songs with lyrics he cares about.

And then there’s Beverly Hills and We Are All on Drugs. Which definitely just don’t fit at all with the rest of what he’s doing, but also, we’re both hits.

I really love that album, but it does seems jarring to go back and forth between meditative-zen songs and weird Rivers pseudo rapping about being famous and doing drugs.

Beverly Hills and My Best Friend are the two worst songs on Make Believe.

    Everything else is great.

We Are All on Drugs -> The Damage in Your Heart -> Pardon Me is just a dismal stretch though, so much worse than either of those songs to me

  21. Eh, I don't really mind those songs. "My Best Friend" is definitely the low point for me.

Peace is an awesome song, I don’t get the hate for Make Believe. It’s a major step above red, Hurley, and ratitude for me, but as with every weezer thread, I respect everyone’s opinions. I Weezer’s catalog is a rollercoaster
