I love KNY but I am surprised how well it's doing. To the people that voted for it, were you fans of the band when they released their first few albums, or are you more recent fans?

I’d been a casual fan since White Pony, but KNY is what made me want to actively pay attention to them.

Idk what's supposed to be bad about that post other than S/T being this low but that's just my personal preferences.

 

i’ve been a huge fan since white pony but i thought KNY was their new masterpiece when it came out

hope they outdo themselves again on the new one

No hate on the first two (and I think they've aged pretty well considering) I just prefer their later stuff. White Pony is one of this century's essential albums imo. (and their new one is brilliant)

I’m really surprised to see Gore so low in people’s rankings. I seem to remember it being well-received by fans, at least when it came out?

 

Ehhh, not really. The band themselves don't even look on it that favorably.

 

Obviously they didn't say much at the time but Stef was kinda removed from the process of making that record - still present, just not all there - so it's no wonder. It's a shame because there's some great stuff on there, but if you're quoted in interviews saying that one-fifth of your band sorta checked out when making an album then of course it won't be viewed that favourably in hindsight.

gore is great, its up there with anything they’ve done bc they’re a wildly consistent band

 

also i think the “stef was checked out” stuff is overstated by both chino and stef. as if “doomed user” would exist without stef
