I don't know... I totally respect that the band wanted things to sound like this, but it feels like an important element is deliberately left out of the songs. Where are the crashing instrumentals and soaring choruses? Shouldn't there be a "next level" in there - if not on the first chorus, then at least on the consecutive ones?

Maybe they were tired of every Yellowcard song sounding like that, and threw the formula out the window for this album. Everything just feels so monotonous to me.

I hope this fits better in context of the record as in, it's the only song that feels like this

Probably cut the 20 sec intro and the 2,5 min outro or something.

  4. I think I'm just not gonna listen to this until the record releases. I thought I wouldn't be able to resist hearing something new, but honestly a 6.5 minute slow jam doesn't draw me in to listen for the first time without the full album's context.

Said I'm okay, but I know how to lie.

Agreed. If most choruses on this album fall flat because of this 90's style production, I will be just so bored.

I know that "Empty Street" is like this, too, so hope is diminishing.

    Stop time
    Your hand in mine
    Pull me closer
As it all gets ripped away
    And I say goodbye
    To the clearest eyes
    I won't be with you
But I won't be far away

The chorus on this song is great. And that guitar riff in the bridge tho!

why all the hate?! I love this song. It's exactly what I wanted from YC. It sounds so, just good. I think it will fit well into the theme of a goodbye album. Since after all, this is a goodbye album.

You also have to remember that songs like this one almost always fit better into a record as a whole, not an individual part. While there has to be a reason they used this as a single, this song feels very much to me like one that first perfectly within the record as a story.

Can't wait to hear the whole thing from top to bottom.

I totally get what you are saying. I was really digging it but was expecting the chorus to come bursting in but the vibe just maintained through the chorus.

That said, I like the song.

Yeah, man. I love this song. But the chorus is also calm and comparable to the other new songs. I just hope there are some jams with hard hitting and loud choruses.

I think so, too. I just don't get why they release a song like this before the record comes out.

To make that clear. This song is not bad or shitty. But in it's length it becomes a little boring.
I love the guitar part in the beginning and the verses so much though.

This song sounds like something from Stay on My Side Tonight, and that's awesome.

I love the guitar work on this but I definitely wish there was a little more going on. Overall I really like the song. It's been stuck in my head since I first heard it last night.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

This album is definitely going to be a much more somber affair

Album cover kind of gave that away.

Wonder if they're still going to release "Got Yours" next week.

Doubtful, I think that was just a misunderstanding.

Idk...I just want happy YC back. Like I said I get it, it wouldn't make sense any other way.

Yeah, I mean, since the older albums exist for me to listen to anytime I'm really glad they're taking a different turn with this one.

Very interesting sound they got going on here. I'm enjoying the new song so far. However, I hope the other long songs are a little more jammy and bigger.

When was the last time Yellowcard released an album that you would describe as "happy" even? Like, Southern Air is extremely bittersweet and regretful to my ears. I'm sure there will be happy songs on this record, just like there were on that one. I doubt it will be as somber as Lift a Sail.

  24. Ocean Avenue isn't even very happy outside of maybe three songs.
