There is a difference between a painting and a piece of software. Virtually everyone would agree that a modern camera system is better. No one would make a game with that kind of camera today because it is known to be bad.

 

Yeah I'm happy that they released these Mario games on Switch but the obvious knock is what little care they put into it. they could have at least had an option for better camera for 64.

 

Isn’t the bad camera on 64 what makes it hard? It’s been a while since I’ve played but I remember that being the biggest obstacle

 

What makes hades so good?

Controls are extremely precise and feel great
Music is awesome
The writing/voice acting/lore is A+
The roguelite mechanics they use are as good as it gets
It's visually BEAUTIFUL

I really don't see how you could make a better rogue than this.

it's been decades since I've played Super Mario 64 but man it's just like riding a bike.

 

I can't remember, did the DS version of Mario 64 have better camera? I'd have to do some digging to see where the hell my copy is lol

I disagree with you philosophically to an extent, but beyond all that the game was designed with that camera in mind, not a modern one. Changing the camera would mean more than just changing the camera in a game like that.

What this shows is just how good we thought awkward camera controls were in the late 90s.

I actually prefer the game in its original form and I’m glad Nintendo kept it.

 

All complaints about camera controls should be directed at the first 3 Resident Evil games.

 

I've honestly never had complaints about the camera in M64, probably because I was just used to that system not having dual joysticks

 

Target had a few dozen copies when I went there this morning for something else. Good thing my Best Buy pre-order will be here around 7 tonight...

 

The collection is a birthday present for me so I can’t play for another 9 days :(

 

Mine hasn’t shipped yet, I was looking forward to playing this weekend but it’ll be worth the wait!

Amazon did me dirty. My package was shipped yesterday, but from a facility in Seattle. I'm not getting my copy until Tuesday. Sigh... I guess that's better for my productivity then.
