A new season of Gourley and Rust, this time going through all the Nightmare movies.

Oh it's a podcast with Matt Gourley and Paul Rust. The first two seasons they went through F13 and Halloween.

  6. I still need to watch 1BR, that one slipped under the radar for me. Trailer looks good aside from one scene that really turned me off

Local drive in is playing No Escape and Alone this weekend. Haven’t heard of them until now but I’m excited to go to see something new!

I really wish I had seen Doctor Sleep in the theaters when it had come out. Some of those scenes (most of the ones being directly tied/reusing The Shining) were absolutely beautiful.

  9. Mine is showing A Nightmare on Elm Street and Alone!

One of the more unusual experiences in a cinema I have had in the last few years due to people walking out during the baseball kid scene and my lack of love for The Shining.

That scene in particular was surprising to me

How so? I don't think it was particularly exploitative or overly violent, uncomfortable for sure but seen far worse with the same rating.

My sister was telling me about how she was deeply upset by that one scene specifically more than anything else she's seen in probably decades.

It just caught me off guard I guess. It didn't take me out of it or turn me off from the film. Maybe it was also cause I knew that boy as Auggie from Wonder haha

Guess I am desensitized to violence then haha.

Scene definitely made me feel incredibly uneasy as well and I’m pretty desensitized too. Maybe it’s because of how brutal it was for being a kid? Maybe a testament to Tremblay’s performance as well.

My partner is closing all week, so it’s a movie marathon. I’m watching Hatchet for the first time. Simply watching it for Kane Hodder and wanted a 2000s horror movie.

Marianne scared the shit out of me.

Anyone watch NOS4A2? I just finished the book and loved it. One of the best longer novels (689 pages) I’ve ever read because it was a good story and so consistent and never slow.

so hatchet was nostalgic in a sense, but the homophobia and racism was hard to ignore.

yeah the homophobia and racism in the series is rough. Ruins the experience.

  24. This is interesting because, I haven't seen Hatchet, but I did just try to start Holliston on Shudder (which Adam Green and Joe lynch created/star in) and the homophobia is definitely there too, along with some other unsavory shit. Just very bro-y all around. Disappointing.

I was just gonna come in and plug Holliston on Shudder because I've seen people praise it and wanted to start, but that's disappointing to hear.
