Yeah, I've said before, if some new band came out with Get Hurt as their debut that would be without question my new 2nd favorite band. That album is ridiculously underappreciated simply because the other stuff is a little better. It suffers only by that comparison.

I love Sink or Swim but I can't go quite that far. I will say, that if it had a little bit better production it would probably be higher on most people's lists. It's really, really good.

I have always considered Slang my favorite (but not necessarily their "best") because I think it's a little more diverse album overall than the others - Diamond Street Choir and Queen of Lower Chelsea to me are the sound of a band stretching their sound in all the right ways.

.......but it's really hard to top 59 Sound. 13 songs in a row that are all just HAMMERS. Including Once Upon A Time.

This time of year always leads me to start spinning Get Hurt. Sounds so much better in the fall.

GH is definitely a fall album for me - they've successfully released an album for all seasons as far as i'm concerned. GH and Handwritten are very good fall/winter albums - 59 Sound is my perfect springtime driving album, and Slang is my hot sweaty summer afternoon jam.

I don't know if its just me but Local Honey feels a lot like a spiritual successor to Elsie in its overall vibe and production/songwriting etc.

That is interesting about Handwritten. For me, it’s a summer album through and through. It reminds me of driving and walking around Chicago in the summer when the album was officially streamed on a website before the actual release date. It’s interesting how some albums hit differently.

For me ‘59 Sound is the first half of summer, Handwritten is the end of summer.

I wish we got both Brian solo albums and Gaslight albums. Love his so music. Having American Slang, Elsie and Handwritten all come out so close together spoiled us.

Considering Alex and Alex just went and formed a new band, I wouldn't count on it happening again any time soon (or ever).

I hope they do something with no pressure, write and record it secretly, just for fun. I could see them doing a single or EP or something.

I also used to think that they’d sort it out, but I’m thinking brian meant what he said. I don’t see them ever making music together again. Touring here and there, probably.

Pretending we are in a fictional world where a new album would actually happen, i feel like they’d be the kind of the band to do a surprise drop outta nowhere. No expectations, no hype, just pure shock & excitement.

Alex Rosamilia has a doom/shoegaze band, Dead Swords. And Benny is drumming for Mercy Union with Gaslight homie Jared Hart from The Scandals. It’s basically in a similar style as Gaslight. Pete Steinkopf from the Bouncing Souls produced their debut album. I think Alex Levine still is a barber and owns a couple restaurants or something.

The band Jason wrote about in his Liner Notes last week that he said sounded like Gaslight is quite good if you guys are interested. Called the Cold Years. Album is called Paradise. Been blasting it for the last 5 days.

Benny was recently on a podcast called 101 part time jobs that had some interesting stories about the beginning of the band. Apparently Eyeball Records wanted to replace everyone except Brian with hired guns but they went to XOXO Records instead.

yeah honestly, for the folks who are saying sure they'll probably tour again, obviously i don't have a crystal ball, but being at the asbury shows, the last shows they played, there was such a palpable sense of finality. hell, they skipped playing the 59 sound in its normal place in the album-play setlist so that it could be the last song they played to close out it all out. if the last song this band ever played live was '59, that's a fitting end.
